ALARMING HEART RATE on my Versa Lite!

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I was about to go to a hospital ER until I quickly looked over other folks posts here. For the past few days, my average HR has been between 190-200 bpm when I’m running. The reason I bought my Fitbit was because I have VTA (Ventricular Tachycardia Arrhythmia) where my HR can speed up at random times. Since I’m currently training for my first marathon, my cardiologist recommended I purchase a Fitbit or other HR tracker.

I have called Fitbit customer service the past two nights and they said they’re aware of the problem and are currently working on resolving this problem.

If anyone else is still having this problem, could you please let me know? I’m heading out for a 10 mile run tomorrow, but thinking twice about it.

Thanks!

Hi, Your not alone with this problem.  Right before I did the last update, I went for a walk, not a speed walk and my Fitbit told me my heart rate was 390... I knew right then there was something wrong, then i did the last Fitbit update and then the HR stopped working.

The new update was Version 3.3.1.... this is the one that made everyone's HR stop working.

Here is how you check the Fitbit Versions on an Apple phone

1. go to Apple App

2. search for Fitbit app

3. pick it but don't open the app on your phone

4. Look for area that says. "What's New"  next to that is it will have Version History, Pick that

This has a list of all the Version that were updated and when. as of today, August 17, 2019. this is what they did for August.

3.3.1 - update 1 week ago

3.3 - update 1 week ago

3.2 - update 3 weeks ago

3.1 - updated 1 month ago

3.0 - updated 1 month ago.

I'm thinking that they knew there was a problem and kept pushing updates. In the Fitbit History, in the past, they were pushing updates once a month, now they have 5 updates in one month.

Thank you so much for responding and explaining about the updates, etc. I’m really frustrated with the company as when I called customer service for the second day in a row, I asked if I could purchase a new Charge 3 at half cost and they said no. I wouldn’t mind but my Versa is only two months old and of course the warranty of 45 days has passed. Your comment about all the updates has me thinking they’re buying more time for themselves so warranties wear out. I went for an 8 mile run today and my HR averaged 200. Usually it runs about 160-170 depending on the weather, etc. The difficult part for me is that I’m supposed to increase my beta blockers (meds that slow my heart rate down) if it goes above 180 for an extended time. I’m leery about doing that because if the Fitbit is inaccurate, the meds could bring my HR down dangerously low. What to do..... Thanks again for the feedback.

Hi, as i was doing more reading, Fitbit is coming out with a new Fitbit soon and I think they are going to wait for it to come out and then push people to buy the new one.  I also noticed that there Stock is falling for their stock holders, so you know someone is getting the news out that there is a problem.

I'm doing research for an Apple watch... I rely on the reminders for my Husbands Medication times to go with out something and I don't always have my phone on me to listen for the alarms.

I’ve had it with Fitbit! I ended up in the ER because my HR was way UNDER what it should have been due to the fact that I took extra beta blockers (my heart meds)because FITBIT showed my HR at 280 while sleeping.
Thank you so much for that info and what dirty rotten scoundrels they are, like most of the greedy corporations in the world.
I will give them another call this morn and ask to speak to a supervisor since I’ve only had the Versa for two months.
Good luck on your end.

I jumped a sinking ship after 5 years... I switched to the Apple watch 4.  I can't wait all month for them to get it right.  So far their Stock is falling but they did announced, in the news that they "Fitbit" are  giving another country over 1 million FREE fitbits... too bad Fitbit can't help the people that actually bought the watches.

I've had this issue a few times with my Versa. It usually starts during exercise, I notice the HR keeps going up and up even if I'm actually cooling down, and it continues to go up and stay high once I've finished exercising.

Fitbit support were quite annoying and kept asking me to check if my HR really was that high (I was sitting down and HR was ~170 😂) then finally they admitted there was a software fault. It resolved a few days later, but since then, it has happened again about two or three times.

The last time it happened, I think it killed my fitbit. Versa froze whilst doing exercise, screen stopped working, and has been dead for about 2 days now. 😩

I’m glad to see there’s still some response coming in! Now from 2020! I’ve had a badddd last 2 months.. and I’ve been so paranoid about other issues going on, and now I just synced my Vera lite and seen that a few times my HR has went to 188 in my sleep and once at 6/7 am.  And the other day I personally picked it up from sitting on my bed and put it on and I said 127/143/147 then I threw it off my arm cause it freaked me out. Put it back on a after I let it sit for a minute. And my rate was normal... I soooo don’t want this watch if it’s going to be inaccurate scaring me like this. Like I said I’ve had baddddd anxiety this at 2 months.. but I’ve had 3 ekgs in these 2 months and they said “ I could literally put your rhythm in a textbook!” Just 2 days ago.. so I’m thinking it’s a glitch in this watch..

Time to go back to Apple watch
