Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Catris. I am sorry for the delayed response.

I am glad to help you add "Swim" to the Exercise app on your Fitbit Versa Lite. Please do the following:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon User-added image >  your device image.
  2. Tap Exercise Shortcuts.
  3. To add a new exercise shortcut, tap the + icon and select an exercise.
  4. You may have to remove an exercise shortcut you're not using in order to add a new one: swipe left on a shortcut.
  5. Sync your device.

You can also track your swims automatically. Don't forget to adjust your exercise recognition settings:

  1. Tap the Today tab User-added image, then tap the Exercise tile User-added image.
  2. Tap the gear icon User-added image.
  3. Tap an exercise, and adjust the duration and turn on Auto-recognize.

This doesn't answer the users question.  There is no selection for "SWIM" in the exercise shortcut menu.  I'm wondering the same thing.  How do we add it.  I was told the Versa Lite was swimming compatible and we could track our workout.

I am also trying to add Swim into my exercise workouts shortcuts on my FitBit Versa Lite.

I have tried on the app and on the computer, no Swim option available. I have deleted all the shortcuts, refreshed/synced. I have rebooted to factory settings, uninstalled and installed the app again.

Despite following all the instructions and trying and other suggestions from the forum, the Swim option does not appear on my list of workout shortcuts to choose.

Help!

LiliyaFitbit, are you even reading what people are writing?  We are specifically looking for "SWIM" under the exercise options.  When I was researching which watch to get it specifically states on the FitBit website that the VersaLite can track your laps in the pool.  Is this a lie?  Is there a with the app?  Is it still in development?  Your answers are extremely unhelpful.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @nmorais. It's nice to see you around @Catris @JoshuaG

Thank you for your time and efforts trying to add "Swim" to your exercise workouts shortcuts. I apologize for any inconvenience and confusion as some users were able to add this option to the watch, however it is part of the bug and our team is working on the fix. I would like to confirm that Fitbit Versa Lite can track your swims automatically and you can confirm this information here. For more information, please see this help article: How do I automatically track activity with my Fitbit device?

The versa lite will only track swimming as a generic exercise. You cannot count lengths on the versa lite as you can on the versa. You cannot choose swim as a specific exercise on the versa lite as you can on the versa.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

I totally agree. There is NO OPTION on the versa lite to choose swim as a specific exercise.VERY misleading sales.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

IT IS NOT THERE!Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Thanks for your message @LiliyaFitbit

I remember seeing Swim in the workout shortcut options, was getting frustrated about not being able to get it back.I hope the team manages to fix the bug soon.

In the meantime i’ll give the auto detection a go and see how that works.

HI Liliya,  i have just followed your instructions to below as i really want to add swimming to the exercise tab on my Fitbit Versa Light.  I got to the point where i removed an exercise from the list so that i could select swimming but found that swimming is not listed in the exercise selection.  Is that right?

@Catris  @JoshuaG  @nmorais @JennyHeywood  @LiliyaFitbit   I hope this will provide a definitive answer for you.  It is from the Help article on tracking swimming:

Swim is not a choice on the Exercise app for the Versa Lite.  It is an auto-recognized exercise only.

There is no option for swimming on the versa lite. It can only be monitored as a general workout. Bit disappointing, as my versa has the option for swimming.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Thanks for your reply. That’s a bit pants when on cheaper Fitbit’s swimming is an option. Come on Fitbit update this so you can add swimming as an exercise!

Quite agree. When I bought the versa lite, I wrongly assumed that it would include swimming. Very surprised and disappointed that it did not.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

I had two Fitbit Charge 3 recently and both went wrong. Lines appeared across the face on both. I was able to track swimming on the Charge 3 and set swimming targets. Because they went wrong I upgraded to the Versa Lite, didn’t even think that swimming would not be an exercise option! Very disappointed ☹️

I tried your instructions, however, Swim does not show in the "Add Shortcut" list!

The Versa Lite will automatically recognise swimming as an exercise when you start to swim. Although, it’s not very accurate despite logging the swimming pool size it still does not count the lengths properly. I always swim 64 lengths but it always records any lengths from 54 - 65!

Have just come across this post. I swear that when I first got my versa lite in May 2019, there was a swim option. However, after various upgrades this seems to have gone. Is it just a bug as they’re saying or will it never come back? And if it’s never coming back, why was it removed?
