Advice for setting custom HR zones w/ high RHR?

Hello! I’m 32 years old and my resting heart rate has always been between 90-95 my whole life. Because of this, the standard heart rate zones on Fitbit aren’t quite accurate for me. I can be sitting on the couch and my Fitbit says I’m in “fat burn” mode!

 

Would anybody be able to help me figure out what custom numbers to use for fat burn, cardio, and peak zones? I’d love to have a better idea of how I’m doing when actually exercising.

I found heart rate zone customization in settings when I logged in to the Fitbit site, which I didn’t see on the mobile app.  I adjusted mine to fit my own RHR (using a heart rate calculator from lifespan fitness.com) but haven’t tried exercising with it yet to see if my zone adjustment made a difference.  I liked the calculator on the website to obtain my max heart rate but had to figure out my zones by multiplying by 50%, 60%, etc.

Let me help you with your heart rate zones settings. You mention that your RHR is quite high and isn't in the standard readings others may have. For this I would suggest you consult a doctor to guide you trough the settings you need to use. A doctor will be able to explain how your current health status should be interpreted.
