Hey,
With my experience with the Versa 1, it lived for almost 1.5 years until it stopped working after I performed a device update. The heart-rate (crazy high) and the sleep tracker stopped working. I upgraded to the Versa 2 with their discount offer. Luckily I had extended warranty coverage in my benefits.
I haven’t updated my Versa 2 to the most recent release in July 2021, I believe. Did anyone experience issues with there Versa 2 after the update?
This Versa 2 is almost 1.5 year old again, likely coming to that point of possibly unable to handle the new software. I’d nervous the tracker will just suddenly stop working like my Versa 1 and will need to repurchase a new fitness tracker again.

If its working there is no reason to update the firmware or Fitbit App, as it could cause you new problems, like you previously encountered.
Have stopped any updates to avoid new issues.
As no release information is provided there is no way of knowing if anything has been fixed or what has been changed, so best to avoid updates.
