App duplicating workouts after categorizing

I recently switched from an Inspire HR to a Versa 2, and now when I categorize a workout in the app it duplicates it.

For example, yesterday I did a tabata workout but that isn’t an option on the watch, so I tracked it as circuit training. Then after syncing with the app I categorized the workout as tabata. It then showed on the dashboard and in the exercise section twice - the data is the same but it’s there under both circuit and tabata.

This is something I did routinely with the Inspire HR and it was never an issue, but exercises duplicate anytime I re-categorize with the Versa 2.

There is no duplication of workouts when it is something that Fitbit auto recognizes (when I play volleyball Fitbit auto detects and tracks it as “sport” and I can change to volleyball without issue).  The duplication only happens when I actively track a workout from the watch.

I am using an iPhone 8 on the most recent iOS. It’s the same phone that I used with the Inspire HR. The only change was the Versa 2, so something is glitchy. I did check the forums and there were a handful of users with duplication issues from 2016-2019 but no resolutions.

I'm not up on that so can't really give explanation, but until you get a better answer, I have read from others whom I trust, that 'Workout' is the only exercise type they could rename.  So I wonder if has anything to do with how you renamed it.  Or you could try tracking it as 'Workout', then rename it, and see if that works better.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
