Hi

My versa is keeping count on my app of my steps today but has absolutely no heart rate data for today.

How do I fix this?

@Carmenthdo you see a HR value on your Versa or just '--' (i.e., no HR data)? If you see a value on your watch, then do you see a 'live' value on your mobile app (in the HR tile, there is a heart symbol and a value below, not the resting HR but the value live from the tracker), or do you get '--'? If you get a value there, then where do you not see the HR data, is that within the HR tile? You know it needs to fetch the data from the server, and sometimes it is a bit slow, or at least slow to respond, just have to wait a little and try again.

If your watch shows '--' all day, then there is no HR data either. It means that the HR sensor failed to get a proper reading, and you need to experiment with the tightness and/or the placement on your arm above your wrist.

Let the community know exactly which of the above is your issue 🙂

Thanks for that feedback. Once in the HR-tile, can you click on any day in the past and get the HR data for that day, or neither that?

What happens (for everyone) is that in order to show the (most recent) HR data, the mobile app first has to fetch it from the fitbit server, and my experience with the HR data in particular is that the responsiveness of the app is not very good: You don't see todays data and when you click nothing happens -- reality is that it is fetching data without indication. EVEN when you manage to open the HR profile - of say yesterday - and swipe forward to today, the most recent data may not be shown until you swipe back and forth a bit. Suddenly it is there 🙂 And the simple reason is that in that time the app was busy fetching most recent data from the servers.  One needs to get a bit the hang of it how it works/responds and then it goes easier and you will get your data.

Also, you can go to fitbit.com and check the HR data on your dashboard there, if only to double check that the data is really sync'd properly.

 Good luck!!

Hello @Carmenth, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community. It's nice to see you too @lenny4d, I appreciate all your help. Smiley Happy

@Carmenth, thanks for your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. As @lenny4d mentioned, it's possible the app is not updating correctly the information already synced in our servers, which is why the heart rate data doesn't show up in the app but it's showing up in the online Dashboard. At this moment, I would like to suggest you to force-quit the app on your phone, then open it again and check your heart rate. If it's still not showing up, take a screenshot and reply back to us so we can check this further.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we'll be waiting to hear from you.

@Carmenththat is correct: for the tracker to be able to sync you must be connected to the internet and in order to be able to see your recent data you must be connected to the internet. The simple reason is first sent by a tracker to the cloud (=fitbit data server) - the mobile app is just a gateway and doesn't do anything with the data - and then the mobile app is just a front-end which fetches selected data back from the cloud again, just like fitbit.com does.

Now there are a few oddities:

- every tracker also sends live data and so it can happen that the mobile app dashboard is updating steps, heart-rate, stairs, calories and active minutes EVEN when the data is not synchronising with the cloud. This is a bit confusing if ppl don't realise it

- when synchronising the data is sendt to the cloud and "immediately" available at fitbit.com dashboard, however it may not yet be available back at the mobile app. The reason is not 100% clear and not confirmed by fitbit, but it appears that the app is still waiting for a sort of "end-of-data" message, sometimes the tracker doesn't send it. Then the mobile app says the data wasn't synced, EVENthough the data is in fact available via the fitbit.com dashboard.
