Automatic time zone shutting itself off

I travel between eastern and Central time zones weekly. On Monday when I leave Central for eastern all is fine. Then when I make the return to Central my watch does not update. When I check advanced setting the automatic time zone option is off. This happens every trip.  Why is this happening?
