Average Daily Steps, when do they update?

I'm assuming that the the average steps only updates once a day because in the morning when I get up it'll  be accurate off the steps from the night before (when I went to bed) and it wont update for me the rest of the day. Does this only update like 1 time a day? I would like to know what my average is towards the end of the day. Is this possible? Is there something wrong with my fitbit/app? My 7 day steps update. Just not my average steps....

Assuming you mean in 'Friends' on the 'Community' tab, the average steps per day updates at midnight, adding the day just completed and dropping the oldest day.

On the other hand, under your name before you click on it to see average, the total does climb during the day until midnight when it makes a big drop, dropping the oldest day and starting to add today's steps.

So the total makes a big drop at midnight, then gradually climbs throughout the day;

while the average makes a smaller adjustment at midnight and stays constant throughout the day.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
