Battery Life usage question

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've upgraded to a Versa 2 about a week an a half ago. I'm reaching 25percent in 48 hours.
Is my usage (bellow) about right for the battery life? Is there any battery intensive thing I'm doing?

I use the exercise tracker for 2 hours/day (check the tracker regularly during),
Facebook messages  notification turned on (I get at most 4 messages a day)
I use motion wake for 16-ish hours a day (sleep and do not disturb at night)
I've been changing between an analogue and the default clock faces up to twice a day
All day sync is turned on.
Only apps I added are "Calories" and "Calculator"

@wicked_sticky For me personally, I keep all-day sync turned off and only allow phone calls and text messages to the watch (no Facebook, no other app notifications -- all the vibrations would drive me crazy honestly).

Changing clock faces that often and using the exercise tracker for 2 hours a day will certainly drain the battery.  Find a clock face and stick with it for several days before switching.  The exercise tracker shouldn't impact it too much, so long as you aren't swapping out the clock face that often and turn off all-day sync.

I try to charge it when I'm sitting down at my desk so my steps are not impacted during the charge.  Mine lasts a solid 5 days.

Thanks for the reply
You're right about the clock thing, I kept the same "by fitbit" clockface, battery use is 11%  in 10 hours. Also, tested it with on of my preferred clockfaces w/o changing, that used 10% in 7hours.  (so my clock face is  using more power than others)

I didnt want to mix test 2 things together so havent shut off all day sync yet, but I though sync affects getting notification, I can infer from your answer that the two arent related. So Ill keep that off.

Side not my Inspire HR didnt care if I was connected with IOS, Android, Windows 10, and browser dashboard all at once. Versa 2 hates it. I think that also was causing issues since I got used to leaving the browser and windows app open all the time on my laptop.

Hey, similar issue here. I went down to 50% after two days. Battery drains after 4. I have lots of notifications on and use fitbit pay. I know someone else with a versa who gets a whole week out of it but uses it only for steps and heart rate. I can't tell if I'm overusing it or if my battery is wonky. Worried that I won't be able to exchange it due to my return policy almost being over and based on all the other reviews, I'm worried I'll exchange it for one with even more problems. If anyone else sees this thread please share how many days you are getting with the versa two!

@Dowhatyoulove Four days doesn't sound bad, especially if you're using Fitbit Pay regularly and have lots of notifications coming to the watch.  I charged my Versa 2 on Thursday night to 98%.  It's now Saturday morning and I'm sitting at 67%.

After a full charge on Thursday I'm now at 70% after turning off most notifications. So I've improved my battery life by quite a bit. I'd like to maximize battery life over notifications. I like having a device I don't have to constantly think about charging.

A little more research from my end:

From 4pm to noon I turned off all day sync, didn't turn off notifications, didn't track any excercises or change clockfaces/apps. I got 4 notifications from 4 different apps in 20 hours. Battery went down by 12% in that 20hours.  At that rate, my Versa 2 would last nearly 7days.

the math:    100%(full battery) ÷ 12% × 20hrs ÷ 24hrs/day = 6.9 days

Looks like the versa only receives push notification, little to no polling happening. I don't think the number off apps that have notifications enabled matter, its how many total notifications you get and the number of replies you send using the watch in all that would effect the versas battery.

I tracked 100min on "Spinning" after that 20hrs. It used up 3-4% of battery.

Thanks for sharing. I would like to keep all day sync on so I'll use it less and see if I can get more out of the battery. 6 days would be fine. My main concern was the my battery was defective but I think I might have simply overused it.

If you really want the most our of your battery, make sure the screen is set to dim, always on display is disabled. The display always sucks more power than any other feature.

Mind if I ask why do you use all day sync? The App syncs automatically every time it opens, is it to not wait the 5 sec. it takes to sync or is there another benefit to using it?

I set it to dim like a week ago and never use always on.

I read their support pages and all day sync basically means you don't have to open up the app to sync manually. I don't want to think about syncing I'd prefer to automate it.

It would be useful to have a battery usage breakdown similar to how our smartphones have. Except for the fitbit it would be set on actions like "x notifications impacted battery by y" or display used x amount. Vibration used x amount. The data is there but not accessible.

The reason why FB doesn't have utilities like that is the same reason why the battery lasts so friggin long. All those services and and apps running at once destroys battery life. Apple and Google WearOS watches have similar batteries to the versa/versa 2, but operating systems like a smartwatch/pc and the battery lasts 16-24 hours on them. Fitbit's OS is built more like a DVD player, utilitarian but very energy efficient.

As for the sync thing, the app automatically syncs when it opens, and I check the app everyday so the autosync is pointless for me.

So I shut off my notifications which seems to extend the battery life a bit but I still feel like somethings wrong.

In 24 hours I dropped 20% with no notifications and minimal use (outside of steps, heart rate, and sync) throughout the day. That can't be right?
