Calculating Walking Pace

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My pace is incorrect. I usually walk at 8km-10km per hour and all of a sudden my fitbit is calculating my walks at over 11km per hour....and I know I am not walking at this pace. Does anyone know what is going on with my fitbit and why it has changed calculating my pace and  how to fix it? Thank you

Hello @JoanneOsborne22 ,

just for confirmation, is your overall distance incorrect as well? if so the issue is almost certainly due to an incorrect stride. If it's in automatic mode it is better to override it and put a manual value 10% smaller than the present one and see if things improve before to proceed with more reliable measures.

Out of curiosity are you using the connected GPS or not?

Also I don't think you're using a Versa 3, rather a Versa 2.

Thank you Giampi71. My overal distance is correct.

How do I put on a manual value? and how do I see if I am using GPS. I have been told to connect this.

I am so sorry. I am obviously a rookie at this. Yep it is a Versa 2

Hello @JoanneOsborne22

I'm puzzled. If your distance is correct I'm not able to understand how your pace can be wrong (well of course there could be a bug). So I don't see any reason to modify the stride value.

Can you please post a screenshot of your last walk (open Fitbit app, go to your exercise tile (it should say something like 1 out of 5 or similar) and click on the last one. Let me know if you need further help.

Here is the screenshot. Exercise

I really think it has to do with my GPS. I was walking with a friend who has an apple watch and her watch said we walked at 9km per hour not

I do trust you can assist. I have turned on my gps on my phone

I noticed on my exercise/walk 'GPS will not be turned on' as per this screenshot https://www.dropbox.com/s/i1a6kmrsjkco9fu/Image-1.jpg?dl=0

I have obviously set something up incorrect. I do trust you can help.

Thank you for your time.

I noticed my stride length 'set autiomatically' is not on. should it be on?

Yes I would suggest to set it as automatically.

Also can you please post the details of the last session? just click on it, you should have a graph of HR and other data.

Also why re you using treadmill? in this case GPS will definitely not be used. Please select walking as exercise.

Good morning, I will do a walk today and see how we go and post the session in here. I trust by using 'walk' not treadmill and having the pace set automatically it will fix the issue. I will be in touch. Thank you so much for all your assistance. Really appreciate it.
