Hello lovely fitbit users, I have just a few days ago joined the fitbit family with a new fitbit versa which I love.
I'm slightly concerned about the burned calorie count. I am a 30 year old, 5'6'' female who weighs 185lbs so I have some weight to lose. I am noticing that the my "calories burned" seems rather high. I have a desk job but walk to and from work every day and home and back at lunchtimes (this is only 10/15 mins each way, like 40mins total). I am also trying to incorporate some extra evening activity such as running into my day. The thing is, yesterday I ran for about 15 minutes at a moderate pace, did my usual work activities and my calorie burn is over 3000 calories. Previously I had a Gear Fit 2 which I found to be quite hard to burn over 1800 calories with, including much more exercise!
I have seen a few of these kinds of posts around the forum but from quite a long time ago and I don't know if perhaps this issue was corrected? I tried to set my height a little bit smaller to try and make up for any possible over estimation but it's still extremely high.
I understand that these things cannot be 100% accurate, however if it's reporting over 1000 calories burned, it seems almost pointless to use this as any kind of way to gauge how many calories I am burning.
Any and all advice much appreciated!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Seachell. I am sorry for the delayed response.
Congratulations on your new Fitbit Versa! I am glad to hear you love your watch and using it to reach your health and fitness goals. I understand your concern regarding the burned calorie count, thank you for your efforts to resolve this and for sharing the additional details. Calorie burn is based on two factors: your basal metabolic rate (or BMR) and activity tracked by your device. For more details, see How does Fitbit estimate how many calories I've burned?
I recommend restarting your device and making sure your personal information is correct.
Let me know how it goes, I'll be around!
