Calories burned too high

I’m not sure how Fitbit determines how many calories burned but it seems abnormally high. I did a 2 hour workout of moderate intensity and it think I burned like 1600 cals it sent like 3000 calories burned to my my fitness pal which thought if every day was like yesterday I would lose 50 pounds in 5 weeks.... I’m 5 11” 320 Pounds so I know I’m burning a lot but even with my caloric deficit and exercise the Fitbit seems to think I’m burning fat at a rate about 3x as fast as it shows on my scale based on weight lost for the last 4 months.  I just got this thing but it seems to be very generously over estimating my calorie burn is this something I can tweak if I think it’s off?

A warm welcome to the Community @Moxnix22 !

It's great to hear you're using your new Fitbit and wish you the best of luck with your health and wellness goals!

I will be glad to help you with calories burned inquiry. Thank you for sharing the details. Calorie burn is based on two factors: your basal metabolic rate (or BMR) and activity tracked by your device.

Your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the rate at which you burn calories at rest just to maintain vital body functions. It usually accounts for at least half of the calories you burn in a day and is estimated based on your age, sex, height, and weight.

I recommend checking this article for more information.

I'll be around if you need further assistance. 😀
