Can I pause my Fitbit during an exercise to charge it?

Hi,

I'm about to do a marathon distance walk soon.

Expected duration around 10 to 12 hours.

When exercise tracking long walks recently of 5 to 6 hours with GPS enabled, it's used maybe 50% of battery from full charge.

So I figure 100% charge maybe isn't going to be sufficient for a 10 to 12 hour walk.

So when I stop at the midway point for a meal break if I pause the exercise, charge the Versa 3 and then re-start the exercise will it still record the whole walk without any glitches or weird statistics being generated do you think?

Thanks in advance.

Henry.

@Henryhomp   You're right to be concerned that the charge won't last.  I've never seen a post like yours.  I think you will need to try this on your own and see what happens.  I'm pretty sure that Support won't know the answer, either.

I'd think a simple test would work. Put in in exercise mode for a minute, then pause and put it on charge. See what happens?

Happened to be low charge day. I started a walk and swung my arm a bit. Then pause and charged. The walk stayed paused, and was able to resume after charging. I have a Versa 2 though.

Thanks, yes I'll try it out on an occasion before we do the walk in question.

I only just discovered that the run exercise mode has auto pause, think I'll also try that for walking, so often on our walks I pause the walk tracker when we stop and forget to re-start as we start walking again so when I look at the GPS track it's got gaps. It's resulted in me tending to leave it tracking during a rest break but in run mode it'll auto stop and start depending on if you're taking steps and all the pace info etc. looks to be the same as it is in walk mode.

@Henryhomp   Sorry, but the Walk shortcut doesn't have an auto pause option.
