Can't get the fitbit Versa strap off

I can't seem to get the small strap off in order to use the large strap. The top strap comes off fine, I just can't seem to remove the bottom one. The silver pin seems like it is moving sideways, at least most of the way, but it won't pull or twist off.

Its the official fitbit strap that came attached to the fitbit.

No luck, Guess I'm returning it. Second one I've returned in the last 3 weeks. I highly doubt I'll bother to take a chance on another one.
