Can't install Spotify on Versa

Hello! I hope you are all doing well. I just wanted to express my concern about my fitbit and downloading apps. I am in Massachusetts and using an iphone XS if this information is in any way useful.

I primarily wanted to set up spotify on my fitbit, but I have since noticed this is a common problem for many other apps. I only can access and download the apps that came with the fitbit originally, such as deezer, alarms, etc.

When I try to download the app, a notification pops up that says “To install this app, make sure the fitbit app on your phone and your fitbit device have the latest update” and will not allow me to press “install”

I checked on the app store, and the app itself did not have an update, and I checked for an update for the device as well and it said the same - that no update was available or necessary. I even went so far as to update my spotify app, but that didn’t seem to help either.

I was wondering if someone would be able to explain what’s going on to me, and be able to assist me in finding a solution to this problem. I know these times are strange and difficult, so I sincerely thank you in advance for your efforts, and hope all of those working are happy and healthy. 🙂

Hello there @mkg9100, welcome to the Community Forums. Thank you for the details provided in your post and for taking the time to verify that you had no pending updates to install. I'll be glad to help you to download Spotify on your Versa.

Note that in order to install Spotify app, your watch must be updated to the latest Fitbit OS 4.1.3 (32.70.8.0) and the Fitbit app on your phone to 3.23. If your new Versa still has an old version, this is the reason why you cannot download Spotify yet. May I know what is the version currently installed on your watch? You can find it either by going in the , tap the Today tab > your profile picture > your device image (the firmware version number appears under your device's name) or on your Versa, in the Settings app About or Device Info.

That said, I'd recommend to sync your watch regularly with the Fitbit app so you can be invited to the latest firmware update. If this doesn't happen in a couple of days, let me know so we can try other steps together.

Also, I wondered if the mobile device you're syncing with is included in our list of supported devices? You can see the list at: Which phones and tablets can I use with my Fitbit watch or tracker?

Fitbit products are compatible with most devices that have the following operating systems: Apple iOS 12.2 and higher, Android OS 7.0 and higher.

Please keep in mind that when a device is not supported and does not meet the require OS we cannot guarantee its functionality with the Fitbit app. It might work at a certain time and then it can stop working out of nowhere after an update. This is because the app is not optimized to that device and any change could impact the performance.

As you may know, you will need the Versa up to date but the trick is having all day sync on and letting it sync periodically as the updates download in small portions. You can read more about this here. Once you have updated your Versa you will be able to download the Spotify app and check this article to know how it works.

Let me know if you need further assistance. We also hope you're happy and healthy during this time! 😉
