What a struggle. I've spent many many years in IT and what should be fairly easy is turning out to be incredibly difficult.
I go through the entire setup and then it says an update is available and then just cycles on "updating your fitbit versa" forever. When I hook it up to my laptop and try it then it goes through the setup and downloads the update and then wants to sync the versa. It then tells me I don't have bluetooth or a fitbit sync dongle when its been using the dongle to do the setup. And then when I go back to my Galaxy Note 5, it says there is an update available like it didn't really complete the update like it told me it did when hooked to the laptop and it just flashes the message "to start, download the fitbit app":.
It's almost like it does some checking to see if there is bluetooth or dongle and then when it finds it , goes through the setup and then wants to sync differently and thinks there is no longer any way to communicate with the versa.
I'm going to continue to fight this thing for another day or so and then it's going back to amazon. This has to be the least intuitive setup process I have ever encountered.

Hi @30harry unpair every Bluetooth device from your phone (you can add it back later) unpair the Versa in your phone's Bluetooth settings too. ... Add back the Versa as a device in the Fibit App and go through the setup process. Once everything was working fine with the Versa I was able to add back my other Bluetooth devices.
