Choppy music on Versa problem description and feedback

Hello everyone,

I want to give information to my problem that's all around this forum with no helpful answers - choppy music on Versa. I'll give very detailed specs. I'm a software dev and I'm pretty sure this is a software bug and should be fixed asap. It makes me want to return my **ahem** watch.

  • Using Fitbit Versa
  • Using Fitbit Connect for OSX - 10.14.5 Mojave
  • Transferring .mp3 songs
  • Using headphones Energy Sistem Earphones Neckband 3
  • The music is choppy - but not only choppy, but higher pitched than the original. Now when you speed up a song it goes higher in frequency and faster in speed. When I play the songs they start higher pitched, but don't chop for about 1 second - then they start chopping. I believe it's because Fitbit tries to make up to the faster speed and causes the chopping itself so the choppy song's duration matches the original duration. The melody does play faster, but the chopping makes for it to take as long as the original song.
  • No matter how close I move my Fitbit to my headphones, it doesn't help. The problem is not a weak signal. This is why I believe it's a software bug - and it's on the Fitbit side.
  • I did restart the watch. I did restore it to factory settings. I unpaired and paired my headphones a dozen times. Don't suggest it, please, I'm already so frustrated from trying it all over.
  • Just a cherry on top - when I finish transferring a new song, sometimes I can't play it and have to wait 5 minutes because Fitbit is trying to download something from WiFi for some reason.
  • Fitbit and the music does work with my JBL Flip 3.

Hope somebody can help - and if not, at least I provided the exact hardware and parameters where the bug can be reproduced.

Wishing a nice day to everyone - and if you got here by Googling "Versa choppy music", I feel sorry for you my friend.

I am having the exact same issue with the music playback speed and choppy "pauses" in the songs. The music speed is too fast, so it has that weird high pitched quality to it. Maybe more of an issue with "personal music" and interpreting file types. I don't use the other music services but maybe they work better.

Really frustrating. The WHOLE reason I chose the Versa was for the music since my ipod is a million years old and my old Blaze just died. very disappointed. I do not like running with my phone and don't want to have to do that just for music. I agree with the post above that it is a serious software issue. Glad I read this before spending more money on new bluetooth earbuds (current ones work just fine with other devices etc. just not with versa).

Hoping FitBit does some homework and issues an update to fix this soon.  I've already used the device and thrown away packaging so returning it is no longer an option for me, but I would if I could. Now I am stuck with a device that doesn't provide one of its main features (yes, I'm just complaining now.)

@Uncanny Sorry to hear about it. My watch is already returned and I'm looking for another one that won't let me down. Hope you can get yours refunded, too.

Same issue here, I tried with Baseus S17 bluetooth headphones http://www.baseus.com/product-388.html?lang=en-us

With 3 different phones works perfectly but not with Fitbit Versa

Me too...except my songs are very slow.  I just got it today for the songs as well.  Very disappointed!
