How do I stop the face changing to the digital format... after a couple of seconds from my lively clock face it goes to the digital format..

Could it be that you have turned on the "Always-On" display option? When set this switches to a more simple, battery efficient clock as described in https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1744/
