Dear fitbit
When will the update roll out to everyone, and most importantly, wil it fix the "connected gps" issue? Because honestly, my charge2 did this flawlesly. Too bad it stopped working after 3 months, luckily the reseller just reimbursed the product while fitbit support was utterly useless.
Against my better judgement I went for the fitbit versa, 2 days ago, and I'm already regretting it. Tracking my runs is the main reason why I wear this, so I just blew 200EURO on a device that doesn't do the one thing I need it to do.
Please let us know when the update will roll out and if it fixes the connection drops the Versa is currently experiencing, because my patience is wearing thin and the Garmin devices are looking more and more attractive every day...

I bit the bullet and brought my 200€ pedometer back to the store and picked up a Garmin vivoactive 3.
Would recommend it to everyone.
Bye folks. Good luck with Fitbit, I had enough of it.

Hi Everyone.
I want to report GPS Connected working properly on Android 7.0 Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X. Phone like every other so perhaps it's a 8.0 Oreo problem.
Just went for a shopping. It shows that phone was connecting back to GPS as soon I was coming out from the shop.
Always connected and Keep-Alive Widget ON
Also make sure Fitbit app got permission to location on your phone
Please report other results

I have problem with Connected Gps, Samsung S6, Android 7.
Just write connecting.... sometimes Im running more than 2 km-s (10 mins) and connect but If connected, disconnect after few minutes.
Do you have paired other bluetooth device?

I have unpaired Blaze, reinstalled the app. In the evening I'll give it another go on bicycle, I'll be going in and out of the building so lets see how it goes.

I have the .15 firmware. Android phone and gps is so spotty. Not cool since I won’t have accurate readings. $200 for the Versa with spotty gps isn’t really worth it if it cannot give accurate stats. It’s constantly “connecting.”

Alright, I've got another walk and cycling exercise completed. So...Watch disconnects from the phone after longer period "inside the house" but connects back within 15 seconds. In the exercise report bicycle route map hasn't been drawn fully (missing initial part) but walking route has been drawn correctly, route A - B shows exactly the same distance as route B - A.
Also, During walk, when you go the app, it says "sync error" and then watch gets disconnected. But after sync it connects back.

I have an iPhone 6s and rarely get connected gps.
Sometimes connects then disconnects as soon as I start cycling, sometimes no connection at all when cycling.
Has worked better when running but still hit and miss.

Carried my phone and Versa for a hike this weekend up 1000 ft of elevation. I used Connected GPS on Hike for the ascent and then separately for the descent. Truthfully, I don't know the exact milage of the route we took but I have the estimated milage based on the park map. Also, we had to pick our route up carefully over the rocks. My Connected GPS performed well. No obvious gaps or squiggles that didn't look like the jaggy route we actually took and the total distance was correct. I was concerned because we hiked for over 4 hours and I didn't think my Versa battery or my phone battery would have enough juice. Also, I didn't have cell phone signal due to the mountain interference. I was very pleased. I use the Walk exercise daily in my neighborhood and, since the firmware update and the software update, my map never or very rarely has a loss of connection and the distance varies by 0.05 miles at most from day to day.Ascent

I use an Iphone 7, I have recently figured out how to make the connected GPS work, I had to not be connected to wifi, enable location to ON, not while using app. It connected within 50 seconds i would say. I got a map to load into fitbit after my run and it loaded to strava, after I updated the Fitbit app and logged back into strava. I am not able to link it to map my run only steps show up under 24/7 not in routes. IMO you can run with connected GSP without your phone.

I just solved my connected gps issues by factory resetting my Versa. Drastic I know but it was my last resort & it worked.

It took me a long time to actually get the connected GPS to work at all, but at the moment, My connected GPS will only consistently work with hiking / walking. I can't get it to connect when I run. I'm not quite sure what's going on here.

Turns out my fix was short lived. I did the watch reset & all was good for about 1 day. Now things are actually worse. Not only is Connected GPS not working consistently, if ever. Now general phone/watch connectivity is very unstable & i'm having to reset my phone networking & Bluetooth settings daily to re-establish connectivity.

Cannot connect Versa to GPS with Samsung A5. Moov devices and Google Fit show map with correct tracking 100% of time but Versa cannot. I will return it.

This is not working at all now. The exercise app quits after 2 minutes. Wasn’t doing that before so bummed. Anyone else experiencing this?

It doesn't work with my windows phone (Lumia 950). It connects and works for about 200 metres then disconnects. That's with wifi turned off and the app turned off (and with both turned on - it makes no difference).
I don't think the Lumia 950 is listed as working with GPS connect, but maybe Fitbit will get it working at some stage.
I didn't think it would be a big deal in my case. However, I admit to being disappointed.

Am I correct in assuming that in order for my run/bike exercise to "connect" I have to have the Fitbit app open on my iPhone? Thanks for any info. chris

All you need is the bluetooth connection (for GPS to connect). The app doesn't need to be open for the GPS connection, at least not with a Windows phone.

I changed to automatic lap settings in the exercise app to 3miles instead of the default 0.5miles and this seemed to work and it didn't quit on me. However you need to set it each time you go for a run. Now if only my apple ipods worked better.

With my Lumia 950 I worked all the kinks with the Charge2, indeed including the fact that the app needs to be allowed in the background, and also because of Fibit improving the software at the same time for Windows (thanks!). Now with my Versa it also works fine. Disadvantage is that the phone GPS underreports distances and thus also speeds by ca. 10%. This can be corrected in Strava, only the web version, and only afterwards. In the mean time I have switched to an android phone, and my Nokia 7plus was working perfectly with the Charge2, also with totally accurate GPS. Now with the Versa and the Nokia, I have connection issues for connected GPS (other functions of the Versa are good). My bike rides are recorded well (so far), but with running or hiking connection has been dropped. I therefore use my old Lumia as a running phone... Hoping Fitbit finds a software solution for the Versa.
