Considering buying the Versa

Greetings and Salutations,

I'm on the lookout for a smartwatch geared toward fitness needs. I currently have a Flex 2, and while it serves me well, I'm at a point where I'd really like to invest in a fitness smartwatch.

I'm most interested in tracking my steps and progress as a runner (competing in several 5ks this year, working toward 10ks and so on). While I'd probably like to sync my Mapmyrun account as well, I'm reluctant to look outside of Fitbit products because I also compete in the weekly challenges with my sisters, and overall invest a good amount of time in my Fitbit.

Having said all of that, what made you decide to go with the Versa (or Ionic)? Do you like it? Would you invest in it again?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you're willing to spare!

Firstly and most important, check it's compatible with your mobile device. I had a charge 2 and s9 and wasn't offically supported. I thought however that it would work great on the versa.

Boy.. how wrong I was.. I've been having a TON of problems and it looks like I'm not the only one if you read the forums..

My advice, read the thread on here where people cannot do the initial setup.

If counting steps accurately is important you should also read: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa/Steps-count-increase-while-charging-Fitbit-Versa/td-p/2788038

Oh wow, thank you for linking to this thread! Ghost steps sound incredibly obnoxious, and I will definitely take this into consideration.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Worbie. And yeah, the more I peruse the forums, I can see how these recurring problems are causing such a headache.

Thank you for telling me about this thread! I gave it a look, and it's a surprise how many people are having these issues with more than one device, no less!

I've been one of the lucky ones and I've had no problem with the watch. I tested the seal by taking it in the pool the first day after set up, and it's worked flawlessly for me. I'm not diminishing the problems people are reporting, I'm just stating my experience with the watch.

I have found the Versa to be highly inaccurate on counting steps and heart rate.  For me, it counts too many steps, example, last night while watching a movie it counted steps, even after never leaving the chair.  The heart rate on the treadmill isn't even close (I compared it to the treadmill heart rate monitor and also with a chest strap.) However, it does work well on the elliptical BUT today after having about 4 months the heart rate isn't working at all.  Sadly, I would not recommend the Versa, the Charge 2 was more accurate.
