Counting steps when not being worn

I have had my V2 since Christmas. Recently I noticed it is counting steps while I am not wearing it. Not in large numbers, this morning said 68 after being on the dock all night. It's read 9 and 27 in the last couple of weeks. Why is this?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Versa2TZ

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing that your Fitbit Versa 2 is tracking steps when being on the dock at night. Your watch is a motion sensor and sometimes if you place it at night near an air conditioner or any other device that can provoke your watch to count steps. If you haven't done so, I'd like you to restart your device as described in this help article. This will refresh your device internally.

You can remove the extra steps from your daily total by following the instructions in this help article: How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?
