Hi all, I need you help.
After half a day of reattempting to update my Versa for the latest update (and a lot of disappointment and wasted time later), I decided to reset my Fitbit Versa to factory settings.
However, this too failed, as the screen hung at the Reset Confirmation settings. I rebooted the watch, only to have it be in a continuous loop of "Data Not Cleared, Sync and Try Again" status.
Now it does not do anything. Anyone had this issue before? I have tried unpairing my phone from the device, but no effect on the watch.
Personally, Versa was quite good as a watch; but this is a real low in terms of user experience for me. The disappointment is real.
Thank you for any advice!

Found this in the Iconic Board. It worked for my Versa re #4 press 2 buttons:
Fitbit Ionic error message “Data not cleared. Sync and try again”

This just happened to me.
1. Go to bluetooth settings on your phone and forget or unpair your Versa
2. Turn off your bluetooth
3. Log out of the app and force stop it.
4. Turn off your phone then power it back on
5. Turn on bluetooth but don't touch anything else go straight to the app
6. Open the app and log back in
7. Try to set it up
These steps worked for me.
Hi Jenna,
Thank you for your help! My Fitbit Versa managed to connect after I removed its previous link to my smartphone and reset the connection.
The update worked shortly after the Versa reset as well.
As a reference and note to self, I found that it is good to reconnect the Fitbit to a WiFi connection before any update; my Fitbit seems to 'forget' the wifi connection now and then.
Cheers and thanks!
Thank you, thank you!! This worked!! I have been fighting with my Versa regarding connecting the Weather app and the Nest app. I have tried about every other suggestion, this process worked!
Best AnswerThanks for this ! I received my replacement Versa last week and could not clear the data sync error. Following these steps exactly worked !
Best AnswerWhich steps above did you use?
I received a replacement Versa for one that had a bad battery. As soon as I plugged the new one in (and have done NOTHING with the phone or my old Versa), I get this error.
Best Answer@theresamor Remove old Versa from your account (unlink) in the Fitbit mobile app. Remove (forget) old Versa from your phone's Bluetooth settings. Reboot your phone, open Fitbit mobile app and try setting up the new Versa.
Thank you! This worked perfectly for me after trying a few other ways to connect my fitbit versa.
