Device recording false steps while sleeping

Hi I just recently bought a Versa 2.  I have it linked to my fitness pal app.  I’ve been noticing when I sleep with it I wake up to over 200 or more steps.  I’ve read other posts where it says to enter driving under exercise to remove these steps.  I’ve done that but now my fitness pal step count is wrong and it stops tracking the steps for that day all together.  I’ve changed the sensitively in my Fitbit on the sleep mode to sensitive hoping this will help as I don’t need the wrong steps posted to my fitness pal as it gives you extra calories on that day and I’m trying to lose weight.  If changing the sensitivity does not work I won’t be wearing my Fitbit to bed any longer.  The whole point of getting it was to track steps and sleep too.  Very frustrating.  Any other suggestions on how to avoid the extra steps while sleeping.

Hi @cmversa2, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the details that were shared in your post, I totally understand how frustrating this matter can be for you but I'm here to help you with this. Seems odd that your device is counting steps while you're sleeping, this is certainly not a common situation nor the way the sleep feature was designed. That being said, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this and how many times since then? Your device only record false steps or floors too? If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to restart your device following the next steps:

  1. For Fitbit Versa 2, hold the back button for 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.
  3. If you still have issues with your device, turn it off and turn it back on. For more information, see How do I turn off my Fitbit device?

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Hi it’s been counting false steps while sleeping ever since I’ve had it which is about a month now. Sometimes it’s only 30 steps while other times it’s over 100. I changed the sleep tracking setting to sensitive to see if that works or not. I haven’t tried it yet. I’ve restarted it a couple of times too.

I wore my Fitbit to bed after changing the sensitivity portion and it still didn’t work.  I woke up to over 200 steps.   I give up and just don’t wear it to bed any longer.  If I could return it I would but I cant as I got it as part of a recognition gift from my job.
