Does Versa have GPS?

I have the surge right now and love all the features except for the physical size and thickness of the watch.  I have been researching the new Versa and love the smaller overall look, but I’m worried I will miss the GPS capability’s.  I know there is an upgraded version available with the GPS.  My question is the term “connected GPS” on the base model of the Versa (it shows as one of the features on the side of the box).  Does that mean that I can still track my miles while biking, hiking etc. . .on the Fitbit app once I sync the updates (after I exercise) with watch & device (iPhone/iPad)??

Connected gps allows the Versa to use the gps on your phone so you will need to take your phone with you when you work out. It should still give you your stats on the versa and when you sync it to your app.  As for how reliable the connected gps is, from my experience not that reliable. I always used the connected gps when I walked and it was constantly “connecting”. It could never hold the connection. So data and map was always incorrect. I also use an android so i can’t tell you if the connected gps is different on an iPhone.  The ionic has built in gps but since I don’t own one I cannot tell you how that device works with the built in gps.

Thanks for replying. I have considered going to the Ionic but it’s very similar, size wise, to the surge that I have now.
Do you know if the app on your phone needs to be opened in order to track?

I believe the app has to be running. But it doesn’t have to stay open on display on your phone.

If you read other posts on this forum about the versa’s connected gps there are a few who do have issues with this. It can be very frustrating if you rely on this feature and it doesn’t always work. If you do decide to get the versa I would suggest not buying it directly from Fitbit and buy from a place that has a good return policy (like Best Buy) just in case you are unhappy with it. You will be less frustrated with the return procedure this way, in my honest opinion.

Yes you can, provided that the Fitbit app is open and your Versa (or whichever device you happen to be using) is connected to the device.
