Does the Versa 2 have the same issues as Versa?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The board is riddled with Versa sync issues lately, Me I also have GPS issues.  Are these same issues still there with the new Versa 2?

Are you asking about App issues or Versa issue?

GPS issues are generally with the phone.

Sync issues may be either. If a shutdown of the versa doesn't help. We need to look at the phone.

I have connected GPS with the V2 and it went smoothly.

I think the short answer to your question is “yes” based on the threads I’ve been reading. I’ve owned a Fitbit since their very first tracker and I’m about to call it. My 6 month old Versa is literally dying a slow irritating death. Can’t sync, won’t connect to Bluetooth, losing time, depleted battery, showing weird flares along the sides...I wouldn’t spend money on a new one if the shelf life is less than a year.

Really, since the first tracker which was discontinued when their second model, the Ultra was released in 2011?

There are two issues that have been described. The app which many have said the latest update has fixed their sync issues.

And hardware problems which would require reaching out to Fitbit.

Yes, really....I actually still have it. Why would think i need to defend THAT?!?

And im happy for those the update didn’t jack up their device but I (and many others) aren’t that lucky.

I think that’s  their plan keep making new versions create problems So the old versions don’t work to force you to buy a new one I think it’s time that we all state how fed up we are with Fitbit

So far, no. I only just got mine about 24 hours ago but my experience has been without any issues. I did have a brief issue syncing with the V1 last summer, but never again after a factory reset and app reinstall.  The V2 is faster and more responsive than the V1.

I would say yes at least for the syncing issues. It never stays synced and I've restarted the watch, my phone and even disconnected Bluetooth. The other day I completely removed it from Fitbit and tried setting it up again as a new device. It took forever because many times it would find the V2, but wouldn't connect/stay connected long enough to complete installation. I finally got it added back but within a few hours it was no longer syncing and hasn't synced in a couple days now. I also was only receiving notifications from my email accounts, earlier this week I finally received 1 text message and nothing since. I purchased it because I wanted to upgrade from the Charge 2 and my entire home is Alexa enabled, sucks I can barely use it for one of the main reasons I purchased it. I will be returning it and possibly switching to a different company.

The issues mentioned above are phone related issues not issues with the tracker.

Well it seems odd that numerous people are having these same issues on various phones. I've mainly seen people reporting these issues on iPhones, but I have Samsung and have seen those with Samsung's and others with the same issues. Either way, it's frustrating to deal with so I've already submitted my return request.

It’s not the phone it’s the Fitbit. The buyers are the only ones who will acknowledge it though.

Thank you. I'm having all the same problems those with the first versa are having and it's mainly the syncing issue. I've tried all the "fixes" and nothing has completely worked. I have no problems at all connected to any of my other devices. I also wear a Samsung Gear S3, Gear buds and even have Echo Auto in my car. Everything connects seamlessly and works great. Even when I had the versa 1 a few months ago I had problems but it was more that the screen was glitchy so I sent it back and found out about the 2 coming out with Alexa and decided to wait for it. I knew getting it at release would have some issues, but this is ridiculous. Shouldn't be having the same issues as the previous product

Then why are the same model phones ha omg the same issues with different trackers? Since there are no phones mentioned in this thread we do not know that e everyone has different phones.

For me, the sync issue has all ways been phone related and since April i have had zero issues with the Charge 2, Charge 3, Versa Light, and now the Versa 2.

My brothers, with the same phone (different cell provider) has not had any issue even when i had to roll back the app version.

I just upgraded from the charge 2, had it on two different Samsung phones and my husband had it on iPhone. It was rare that we had problems with syncing, but we both still had them at the same time. He no longer wears a Fitbit at all. Like I said, most people have been having these problems on iPhone. I and others have been having these issues on Samsung. I've even seen someone say they are on Huwei (sp?) and a few with Pixel reporting these same issues. Some people may not be having problems and that's great. But there are many of us that are and its way too many of us for it to be an individual phone problem

Fitbit has also acknowledged the notifications problem with iPhone devices, but it's also not just iPhone users having the issue.

I've had sync issues on a Versa (1) with my vanilla Pixel for the entire time I've owned, which has been since it was released.  And if you search the forums, you'll find multiple threads many pages long from people with sync issues as well.

I would say, to answer your question, that FitBit has done a really poor job of writing their apps.  That doesn't make it a phone issue.  That makes it a FitBit issue, whether it's the tracker or the apps, FitBit needs to own it.  I can tell you for certain that when my Versa dies (I wear it because it was a gift from my wife who now feels guilty that she bought me a garbage watch) I won't be buying another FitBit.

My TomTom has never has an issue syncing with that same phone, btw.  Not once.  And at one point, I know, they laid-off most of their software team.

Agreed. I actually love my V2 minus how easy it is to scratch the screen. I just refuse to deal with these syncing issues. I'm looking into Garmin and Fossil products. I like my Samsung Gear S3, but Samsung Health is absolute trash in my opinion when it comes to fitness/health tracking. Fitbit has always been very accurate for me which is important due to my bad and declining health, especially with sleep monitoring. I'll be going back to my Charge 2 until I find something else, I've really only just started having battery life issues with it.
