Exercise calories dependant on weight?

Hello,

I just got my Versa 2 for my Birthday. I was wondering....does it take into account your weight and height when exercising. I know it does for BMR but was wondering if the calorie burn for exercise would increase/decrease dependant on weight.

I weigh 54kg and I know a person who weighs 70kg would probably burn more calories than me during a 30 minute HIIT session or 30 min run. Was wondering if the watch is clever enough to calculate this way?

The simple answer is yes, the more you weigh the more calories you burn but it is also dependant on the exercise.

Every exercise has a MET value (metabolic equivalent).

You can work out your calorie burn by using the following formula "MET multiplied by your weight in kilos = how many calories burned per hour.

For 1/2 an hour divide the result by 2 and for 1/4 of an hour divide by 4.

A list of MET's and more information can be found on the Compendium of Physical Activities website.

I hope this answers your question and gives you a better insight into exercise.

So I do HIIT and use 'Workout'. Will it calculate what I burn based on
heart rate and weight?

There's an exercise type labeled INTERVAL which would work better than "Workout".

You have to set the intervals for your HIIT, so many minutes active then so many minutes rest.

Hope this helps.

My sessions are a bit complicated. Pyramids, ladders, EMOMs and AMRAPS so intervals won't work for me.
