FITBIT Versa 2 Calculating High BMR

Fitbit: Versa 2

I recently switched from a Charge 2 to a Versa 2 and the watch is working well, but the BMR it’s calculating is ridiculously high. It tells me I’ve burned 1,496 when I’ve just woken up. The Charge 2 had me burning an average of 350-490. I don’t sleep with the Versa 2 (I didn’t sleep with the Charge 2 either) but I did one time for the Versa 2 to see if that’d help and it did. The night I slept with it, it calculated my overnight BMR around 400 cal burned. But now that I don’t sleep with it, it’s gone back to calculating this high calorie burn of 1,400+ when I slept. Could it be an issue of me now sleeping with it? Cause full disclosure, the Charge 2 I had, I did sleep with it for about 3-5 days before not using it to sleep. So do the devices need to be used during sleep for an extended period to get accurate BMR?

My profile is set up with weight, height and age. My food log is set to sedentary. I tried everything suggested on similar topics I came across but no luck. Am I missing something?

I’m using this to lose weight and for the most part my BMR (before switching to the Versa 2) was fairly accurate, I had to work out to get the calories burned I wanted. With the Versa 2, I wake up and I’m done.

I’m not sure how to edit this so I’m replying with an update. I spoke to support and they advised I restart my watch (long press the button for about 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears then let go). Apparently it was a heart tracking issue, when I would take my watch off at night the Versa 2 would track my heart rate at 103+ so that’s why the BMR was high because it was basing it off as if I had done some workout. But I restarted it the watch and again placed it on my nightstand last night and I woke up to a normal BMR. So that is a relief. I hope anyone having this issue is able to use this quick fix.
