FitBit Versa 3.0 - iPhone messages/imessage notifications not working

I have a Fitbit Versa, it is updated to the latest OS - 33.1.30. I have it synched to my iPhone 6s running iOS 12.1.2. Since I got my versa, I have never ever been got notifications on the watch when I received a Text message or an iMessage. I was having issues for a bit with WhatsApp but, it and all other app notifications that I want turned on (Ring, my alarm system etc) I received. Also, incoming call notifications I receive no problem.

On the app I have turned on notifications for "Text Messages" - same as for "Calls". When I had issues with WhatsApp, I would turn off notifications for the app and then sync and then come back in and turn it back on and sync again. 

Like I said, I have never received a Text/iMessage notification since I got the Versa. It's really annoying and am considering sending it back at this point as it's one of the more important notifications I want to be able to receive.

Go on iPhone settings, notification centre and pick either “always” or “when unlocked” for message previews. I did that and it now works.

Same issue, I wasn't able to sync my texting until I did this:

Iphone Settings - Notifications - Messages - under Alerts I had to click on Notification Center and Show Previews as "Always (default)".

I figured out my problem on my end.  If u have “show preview off” in messages it blocks the phone notification

i turned it to when unlocked or always and it works just fine. 

Bummer because I wish it would show a message but still keep it private

I have tried contacting the Fitbit people repeatedly with this issue.  I was even on a long text thread with customer service for months.  I never had my issue resolved.  They kept saying they knew about the issue but that they were working on it.  Clearly, the issue still hasn't been fixed as I still have the same problem, even after I was hoping this new update would fix it!

I have a Versa 2 and iPhone 11 Pro with latest iOS 13.4.1

I was getting calendar and phone call notifications but not Text Messages/iMessages.

The issue for me is that I have the text message previews turned off on my lock screen. It's a security feature from Apple, if someone picks up my phone they cannot view my messages unless my phone is unlocked so that's why messages don't come through on a 3rd party device. 

To resolve:

Go to Settings -> Notifications -> scroll down to "Messages" 

Tap on "Show Previews" then tap on "Always (Default)"

That's it. You shouldn't have to restart anything. Once I changed this I got text messages and iMessage popping in.
