Hello everybody,
After latest firmware update my Fitbit does not work. There a is pink cross on display saying "Data not cleared , sync and try again". When I connect my Fitbit to Fitbit app it wants to do update but the update never finishes. I have tried to run update several times even over night and it only moved to 2%. I have tried to uninstall my FitBit app, unpair device, pair it again, restart my phone but nothing works...
When I try to run update again, there is a light blue bar in 1/3 of my display but it hardly moves over time.
I would like to also know how to make factory reset if I cannot access device menu.
Can anybody help please? Thank you.

I am having this exact same issue. I have done the hard reset. There are only so many times I can hold down the power button. I hope someone is able to provide an answer- my watch has been out of commission since Friday evening.

Wow i thought i broke my mine but it was the firmware update i see. I am very disappointed that i am unable to use my fitbit. It worked fine before update. I hope its fixed soon.

Update i managed to figure out a way to do update. I did a factory reset amd after that i could not do update. Screen kept flashing download app in different languages. I must have tried to download new firmware over 20times. Today i decided to try on my laptop. I placed it in charger hooked usb into computer. I heard a noise but didnt see anything change. As i was looking to download fitbit app on pc i saw usb device completed. So i said heck let me try again on my phone and it worked. The multi languages was gone which allowed for update to finish. Seeing the screen go all blue and update complete was awesome news. So plug charger into laptop and wait maybe this will help you also.good luck.

Mate this has driven me completely insane for 4 days, I've done loads of exercise but not logged it because I couldn't use my Versa. Fitbit are useless at support but I happened to find this page an YOU FIXED IT! YOU ARE A LEGEND!

Having same issue but no cross. Mine shows little white circle lights like the logo with the moving little blue circle lights.
I've tried pressing the fitbit button; rebooting phone; shutting off bluetooth and making sure internet is working. For days the firmware update has always failed. I thought it was me.
I was using an android phone to sync, As suggested I'm going to try using computer. Hope it works on Window 10?

Yeah try it out cuz i tried everything and just plugging in charger with fitbit on into my laptop worked.i did not download anything on laptop i was about to then i heard a noise and it said it read my fitbit. Tried to update and it worked. Alot of people are saying it worked so i hope it does for you.

Glad it worked but my laptop read it instantly. Good to know that for some may take longer. At least can finally use it again.

Likewise, I wasted hours (and days) trying to fix the problem after the firmware update.
Your simply solution also worked for me. As soon as I plugged my Versa Lite into my PC and opened the Fitbit app on my iPad, the Versa Lite sprang to life with the update bar across the screen showing that the update was continuing and eventually finished. Took about 5 minutes.
It’s amazing that the experts don’t seem to have figured out the problem - and your solution.

Awesome yeah it's crazy that its not fixed yet but glad I am helping customers along the way. I was going crazy with 4days of my fitbit down. Thanks for your reply.

Hi! Been reading some of your post, i have a versa lite and cannot get notifications till update. How did you get yours to update on your pc? I recently got a new one from fitbit cause my other got the X data not synced and didnt work anymore. Kinda worried about updating mine cause of what happened to my other one.

I don’t use notifications, so I can’t answer that particular question.
Since my post I’ve installed another software update without any problem.
The steps I followed this time were:
1. Start desktop PC any plug Fitbit Lite into USB port.
2. Start iPad Fitbit app.
3. Follow update instructions on Fitbit app.
If I remember correctly, this latest update took about 45 minutes, maybe more, but without any issues.
For some reason, plugging the Fitbit Lite into the PC seems to stop the Fitbit Lite from ‘freezing’ during the update.

Thank you so much. I factory reset the watch and suddenly it stopped responding would not pair. I went to the shop from where I brought they asked me to call the helpline. But it was down due to Corona. I mailed them and they replied with many basic steps which I had already tried (using different phones, trying in Windows app). I only had a month left of the warranty. I had lost hope and was really upset as it's been 4 days and Thank God I saw this thread. It worked, just connect the charger to the laptop once the lap/PC shows versa litre ready to use, Open fitbit app from your phone and follow the steps. Again, thank you a 100 times.
