FitBit Versa suddenly died

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My FitBit Versa just stopped responding sometime between 1am and 2am this morning.  Black screen, no green heartrate monitor lights on the back, and it didn't vibrate for scheduled alarms.  I tried to reboot it by holding the left and lower-right buttons, with no success.

According to the phone app, it last synced at 10:48pm last night with 49% charge, so the battery shouldn't be dead yet.  Curiously, when I connect it to the charger plugged into a PC, I get the "USB device connected" sound, and the "disconnected" sound when I unplug it, so apparently something is still working inside it.

It was purchased in late October of 2018, so out of warranty.  Any ideas?  Is it possible to perform a factory reset if the screen isn't working?

Short answer, your Versa is dead and Fitbit won't do anything about it.

I purchased 2 Versas on February 2018. My wife's died March 2019 one month out of warranty and Fitbit wouldn't do anything. My watch just died 2 days ago, so that's 2 Versas dead in 20 months. Don't waste you money again on Fitbit. I replaced my wife's Versa when it died with a $30 smart watch on Amazon that does almost everything the Versa does, and has a much better battery life (10 days vs 3). Search for "Blackview Smart Watch" on Amazon. Good luck!

P.S.
One of the last things you can try is holding down all 3 buttons down for up to 3 minutes. That's supposed to do a full factory reset on your watch, and it has worked for some people. When I did it on my watch, the only thing that happens is that the backlight of the screen turns on (still all black), the heart rate sensor will flash a few times, and sometimes it will vibrate a couple of times, but other than that it's dead.

I’ve had the same issue within the last 24 hours.  versa 2 fully charged and then just stopped working, blank screen, would not turned back on or reset.  Next step will be to contact Fitbit direct.

I have syncing issues with the Versa. Thought it was my phone but I now have an I-phone and still have issues. It syncs when it wants to. I have already resolved not to buy another fitbit. Too expensive with much better ones out there. Plus google bought it so who knows what is happening with our data. Probably being sold to other corporations which have taken over the world. Glad that I'm old.

Not what anyone wants to hear in moments of distress like this but with an item such as a fitness watch I'd definitely pick up an extended warranty with purchase or soon thereafter.  The cost can be relatively inexpensive (mine was 16.00 for 2yrs coverage)  My Versa2 recently failed though was still within the one year Fitbit warranty period so one could look at it as I wasted the 16.00 but these plans typically cover accidental damage as well.and you do get that extra 1 year of full coverage.  I seem to see so many failing not long after the one year is up and thought this post may be helpful for future reference.

The settings seem to be stuck on Dim auto settings have been changed after the Spo2 clockface was installed. I had to reset the settings using Tips on the watch.

Mine started with a sudden drop in battery life, barely lasts a day now. Then two days ago the screen went dark. It was still syncing, the green light on the back was still blinking. Now nothing, doing a restart and reset haven't helped.

The only thing that changed was a firmware update that applied last week.

Mine stopped updating on 9/21, which I think was when it updated the firmware. Its time has drifted away from standard, by about 30 minutes now. It can't connect with any devices, so I don't think it can be fixed with another update. I think it's done. Still alive, but worth nothing.

I have had exactly the same over the last couple of days and it has been fine to this point, not impressed at all!
