Hi,
I am using a Fitbit Versa and the latest iOS version.
My issue is that I don't need (and also don't want to use) any GPS functions with my Fitbit watch or the the App and from what I learnt so far, it's impossible to switch it off.
If I understand correctly, I need to give the Fitbit App ALWAYS access to my location data because otherwise the app won't sync with the watch and therefore I won't get any notifications (which does not make sense at all...)
As Fitbit states, that it only uses the location data when tracking activities, I gave them location access, because I don't want to track my activities.
However, for some reason I cannot switch it off. I mean, I did, but it just doesn't care (see screenshot at the bottom. When I run, it just tracks it anyway and I see my route later in the app.
The way I see it now is, that I cannot use my Fitbit without submitting my location.
If there is any way to do so, please let me know.
Although I like the Fitbit, I will then by another watch from a company that cares about data security.
Thanks and best,
Toni

Hello Slevin...
The Fitbit App, I believe, can be turned off so that you can sync manually, only issue with that is you don't get as quick information from the device. If you are concerned about location security. I recommend disabling the location service on the iOS device you use, then no location information is available to any apps/devices connected to your iOS device.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Ricky, but for some Apps I want to use the location information.
I just would like to restrict this for the Fitbit App as I don't use any features that require that information.
Unfortunately, I really think that that's not possible since Fitbit wants the data...
Again, thanks anyways and have a good day.

Yes, I can deny Fitbit the location services, but then the product doesn't work anymore (e.g. not getting notification about messages or call) because Fitbit wants the data even though they don't need it --> This is my problem in a nutshell 😉
Ricky, thanks so much for your help, but you don't need to look this up for me. Don't put in the effort. I was just hoping that some experienced the same problem as me. I really appreciated your help!
