Shame on Fitbit for becoming a greedy company. This faulty update has messed up mine and many others Fitbit. Their resolution is to offer a % off on another one when it's their fault. What's the point in buying another one when all Fitbit has to do is create another (purposely??) faulty update only to go through the same hard reset, press & hold 10 times, press & hold 8 times & so forth with no avail. Fitbit logo stayed on. Followed the many many steps to seeing a big X with the error message "Data not cleared Sync & try again. When I expressed to customer service I should not have to purchase a new Fitbit. This one should be fixed or a free replacement since it is their fault. That's when the script reading began. Fitbit doesn't care. They're over confidence in that they don't believe people or enough people will leave. Their stance is that customers will purchase another one so why worry about the few who doesn't. They'll still make money.

I've been there with my Versa 3, now out of commission as 2-3 others in the past. Anyway I just figured out if you purchase from Amazon, an authorized retailer, you can purchase their extended warranty, which is 3 years, no questions asked. Price depends on which Fitbit, but I just bought an Inspire 2 for $66 and the warranty was $8. I've never had a Fitbit last 3 years, so figure I'll cash in for sure.

Absolutely agree with you! The last update killed my Versa 3. Fitbit did nothing aside from offer35% off a new one. No thank you! I just bought a Garmin Venu Sq and will be leaving Fitbit for good. Garmin is a better watch with way better customer service!

Agreed! None of the recent updates on at least three platforms are safe it seems... Charge4, Charge5 and Versa3 are all being bricked by the most recent update. This happened last time I am told as well with the Charge3 and some others with it's last update.
Once they are bricked, since they are out of warranty, Fitbit is basically doing nothing except telling you to replace your device. They offer a 35% discount except it does not apply if it is a new product you want or already on sale (like the Charge5 and those others they are trying to move). You can only buy older stock and if it is on sale there is no discount at all even though they are bricking MANY devices daily with this security update and they know it already and have for weeks.
Check the forums and Twitter FitBit Support and such...
Be careful...
