Fitbit Update 1/10/19:

Hi all!

Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!

Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our Community discussions on-topic.

If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there.

Thanks again and happy stepping! Smiley Happy

Fitbit Update 12/26:

Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Versa watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.

In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.

We look forward to getting you all back on track!

Fitbit Update 12/22:

We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.

We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Hi, everyone!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 32.33.1.30)

We've started to roll out this update and it's currently out to 20% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here. We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Versa, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

*If anyone isn't seeing the TODAY app after updating, please try the following:

1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app (version 2.84)

2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Versa into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Curious if anyone else is having issues with logging workouts since the update? Mine aren't logging accurately. 17 minutes logged as 7 minutes even though When I ended it the stats said 17. An 8 minute one logged but with no actual minutes. Total for the day should've been 82 but it's only logged 58. Frustrating as my main reason for getting the versa was to track my weight training workouts. Also not updating on screen until i sync with the app.

I tried restarting just now, it still does the same thing. I even factory reset my watch, & it still has the same issues. It shuts down, followed with repeating flashes of the fitbit logo, & a reboot of the watch.
A quick thing to tell you: When I format the watch, I think it tries to update to the current 3.0 version, because checking the app shows the latest version after the re-installation. When I see the download finish at 100%, the watch gives a big red "X", then restarts, redoes the download, then installs it, with the app taking an extra few minutes to figure out the watch "successfully" finished installing.
Fitbit should have a device trade-in program. Am I wrong?

I got the update and installed it when my battery % was at 25 and now when I put my watch in the charger to finish charging it would go to black screen showing it’s charging then exit and goes to my clock screen but shows battery icon and still charging and when I tap it to wake up it doesn’t go on to show the charging screen and when I double tap it shows the charging screen but then exits and goes to clock screen is that normal or is it not suppose to be doing that cuz I have never had that problem

The update appeared in the app. After the installation failed, the update is now gone. Still at 32.32.10.15

Wow...

I had exactly the same problem.  It said the update failed and now the update button and notification is gone.  What's up with that.

Hi!

I got an in-app notification that an update was available today (Dec. 21, 2018). I plugged my versa into my laptop to charge, and tried to do the update, but it failed repeatedly. I tried the update with WiFi and update with bluetooth options. After 6 back-to-back failed updates, I stopped trying to update and checked all your different suggestions from this page: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2047?q=1871&l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1.

I made sure my versa was connected to WiFi, I removed it from the app and forgot it from my bluetooth, I reconnected it to my app, and after doing that, I no longer have the update banner in my app, but my device is still firmware version 32.32.10.15, so I know it never updated.

Why did the update banner disappear if my device didn't update? How do I get the update back? I also tried restarting my phone, and the Fitbit app is up to date, I have version 2.84, last updated Dec. 17, 2018.

Fitbit Update 12/21: Due to issues with the firmware update process, we're pausing the release of Fitbit OS 3.0. Some users may notice the firmware update is no longer available. If you still have the update and haven't started the process, we recommend you wait until the issues are resolved. We'll let you know when the update is available. Thanks for your patience!

@SunsetRunner I have noticed that mine will go straight from the charging screen back to the clock face when I tap on it when it's in the charger after the update. It does seem to still be charging. Check in the upper left corner, you'll see the battery icon that's not normally there. And, if you give it a couple minutes and tap again, you see the charging screen again.

I tried that but when I double tap the screen to wake it up it shows the charging screen but then it goes to clock screen showing the battery icon in the top left corner still charging instead of it going to stand by mode

Thank you @MattFitbit
Does this firmware update process issue have anything to do with the issue I mentioned earlier?
Please kindly keep us update of when its fixed. I'm shutting my watch down til this is all fixed.

Wow issues with the Fitbit Firmware updates right before the holiday weekend!  Looks like we'll be waiting a long time before that'll be fixed.  I finally got the update notification and now they're having issues, just my luck.

Hi, I tried to download the update onto a versa, but it didn’t work. I reset the watch. I turned off the phone, wiped the app and reset it. Turned off the Bluetooth, etc (did everything!).

Now the versa isn’t showing up in my list of Bluetooth devises.

any suggestions?

thanks,

susan.
