Fitbit Set To Automatically Record Exercise

If I have my exercise's listed on my shortcuts and my fitbit set to automatically record their activity does it recognize each one or do I have to start each on I do my my fitbit?

I always start with cardio.  I do a 10 minute warm up (walking fast) and then a 2 mile run.  Do I have to start the Walking shortcut and then stop it and start the treadmill shortcut?

Then I hit the weights.  Do I just select the weights from the shortcut and stop it when I am done?

Does my fit bit add up all these exercise's for the calories and activity?

What is the difference between weights and workout?  When I am hitting the weights should I do weights or workout as my shortcut.

I hope I am making sense of this?

@Johnny_Miller   I feel like you want good details.  Keeping that in mind, I am also a follower of the KISS principle -- Keep it simple, stupid.  So this is what I would do.

I would do the whole warm up and run on the Run setting, using the Exercise app.  After stopping the run, I suspect you take a brief break, hydrate, etc.  Then do your weights using the Weights setting.

Some other insights:

  • Workout is not GPS connected.  So if you want a map, you need to do your run on Run.
  • Sometimes the Versa gets a little wonky with an auto-recognized walk before the tracked Run.
  • The minimum auto-recognized time is 10 minutes.  If your warm up is just under 10 min, it might not get recognized.
  • I suspect you have not seen the workouts on Fitbit Coach.  You do a little of this a little of that, and so on.  This is why I would not recommend doing the whole workout in Workout.
  • If you don't care about a GPS map, just do the whole warm up/run auto-recognized.  You might not see the details you want.
