Does anyone Fitbit Versa does this, off and on automatically during the workouts? It automatically turns off and restart automatically during the workout or swimming. It is very frustrated.

@minhajmin Don't let the moderators gaslight you. This is a "known" bug in the firmware. The Exercise app in particular. I put "known" in quotes because you'll find lots of threads on these forums complaining about the same issue and I've had Fitbit support admit to the problem at least once, but they'll mostly just tell you you're the only one with an issue and it's because you're doing something wrong. They might eventually offer you a replacement, but you'll have the same problem with the replacement too, because it's a bug in the firmware.

What's interesting, is I had this problem very rarely when I first got my Versa. Then it stopped for several months. Now it's back and it happens every 2-3 days.

The bug is in the Exercise app. So, if you don't mind not being able to see your stats in big text on the screen while you're working out, you could let the automatic workout track for you. Or let the watch track as normal, then manually enter the workout. Yeah, those aren't solutions for me, either.

Hey @minhajmin, great to see you around.

If your Versa is resetting itself, I recommend restarting it by doing the following:

  1. Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.

I hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Robot Happy

I received a Fitbit Versa as a birthday present less than a month ago, and am experiencing the problem described above - the watch resets itself several times as I work out, disrupting any effort to track my activity.

How is the above  - 'It's a bug in the exercise app, deal with it' - an acceptable solution this issue?

Are there any planned releases or updates which are likely to resolve/improve the firmware?

I find it difficult to fathom that this is the above standard of care is applied to a device that is ostensibly an app to track/bully/harsh one into fitness - particularly if the bug in the firmware prevents you from accurately doing any of this.

@DNA74_UK I presume you're complaining about my post. I'm not sure where you see me suggesting that we all just "deal with" bugs. I find it frustrating, too. Worse than the bugs is the fact that Fitbit almost never admits to them. You can even look in these forums and see the post about steps being added while charging pinned to the top and Fitbit admitting that it's a problem. Then, you can find other posts where people are complaining about that very issue and Fitbit responds with troubleshooting tips, as if it's operator error. I'm sure if someone called or chatted with support about these very issues, they'd get the same operator error response.

Not all all. In fact, I am commiserating with your frustration, as I find the feedback less than helpful. I reported my issue to the online support folks, and expressed my displeasure. Good luck!

So my Fitbit Versa has been restarting itself over and over randomly, numerous times a day... like every few minutes at this point. It’s draining the battery, making me constantly have to charge it. I’ve had Fitbit for years and never had any issues until I got my Versa. From the dates I’m seeing on all these comments, it sounds like it’s an ongoing and unresolved issue. I just tried manually restarting it, stand now it won’t even start up. The screen just sits on the logo forever. It finally loaded up after I finished typing my comments. We shall see if the problem remains.

Mine is doing the same thing, restarting itself periodically throughout the day. When it finishes, it vibrates, and it's getting VERY annoying. It's a different vibration than when I get notifications, so I can tell the difference, but that almost makes it worse.

Yup!! I get that vibration too, only to see that my display doesn’t work at all and I have to wait for it to reset itself AGAIN! I basically lose all function of the Fitbit (even the clock... can’t even use it as a watch during these times, which are frequent all day long), AND I now have to recharge it every single day because all the auto resets are draining the battery life! 😭

I'm having the same problem as of a week ago. It's very frustrating especially when tracking during exercise. The whole point of me buying this watch less than 2 months ago is to track, not have it reset all day! What a waste of money....

I contacted customer service who told me to do a factory reset, which I'd
already done. They sent me a replacement instead.

How do you do a factory reset? And will you lose your data?

It’s starting to happen to my mom’s Versa, too. 😔

You lose any data that isn't synced with the app, and you will have to
re-link the device to your app and re-download any clock faces or apps you
installed. To do the reset go to Settings on the Versa and scroll all
the way down to the bottom and tap About. Scroll down and the second to
last option is Factory Reset. When you re-link it to your app it will also
have to re-download all the firmware updates. In my case this took over two
hours! But when I got my replacement and set it up it only took maybe 30
minutes (once it actually worked ... First it failed about 15 times and I
had to do two factory resets on the brand new device...ugh).

I can’t even do a reset because the touch screen won’t even work. It keeps shutting off. I’ve got a lemon! It’s gotten so bad now it won’t even hold a charge for 24 hours and it keeps dying on me, then not recording data.

Contact them on Twitter and they'll open a support ticket by email. If it's
under warranty they should replace it without question (though I wouldn't
expect the replacement to last, honestly).

Yes, I had my Versa 2 for a few months, then a couple of weeks ago during a treadmill run it had stopped shortly after I started running. Now it’s done it multiple times as it’s impossible to get a very accurate stat when it keeps shutting down in the middle of the run and having to start over. Very frustrating!

Thanks, that’s why I purchased it so I can track during the run...

No, that doesn’t work. It keeps resetting itself.
