This week my Fitbit Versa has decided to stop tracking my treadmill activity 5 minutes into my workout. Extremely frustrating! I’m having to restart the tracking every time.

Hello @Unicornpff, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for letting me know you have already restarted your Versa. Tell me, are you starting your exercise directly from the Versa? Is it only happening when selecting Treadmill or are other exercises affected? By any chance, have you received a Notification in your Versa while performing the exercise? This information will be very helpful for me to check this further.
Thanks for all your patience and understanding, I'll be waiting for your reply.

Mine does the same. Stopped tracking after a few minutes on the treadmill and several different days when biking.

I am having this problem as well. I am using the “workout” option, because I do mainly HIIT circuits. The last two days, the tracker has paused in the middle of my workout. Extremely frustrating.

Hello @Unicornpff, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. It's great to have you on board @Bhotjen and @Katiee23, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community.
I appreciate you have replied with the information requested. At this moment I would like to ask you to restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. Then check if your exercise pauses, stops or the Exercise app crashes when you're performing an activity. This will be very helpful.
I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted, I'll be happy to continue helping you.

I've also had the same issue - started my run yesterday afternoon, then the watch vibrated and when I looked at it, it had gone back to the watch face. I lost the first 1/4 mile of my run yesterday waiting for it to reconnect so I could restart the exercise and track the run. I'm running the latest firmware 32.32.10.15, and the watch was the only thing connected through Bluetooth. Shortly before the firmware update, it had restarted itself before the end of a couple of my outdoor runs, and once on the treadmill. I like the watch, but having this happen kinda defeats tracking exercises - and you have to slow down and take your eyes away from where you are running to get it restarted. Are there any logs of some sort that we can send off that would give you folks more information? Thanks! Lance

I restarted the watch. It sounds like this is a widespread issue. I just purchased this watch. I’d like to return it if there is not going to be a fix. The exercise tracking is the key reason I purchased this.

I have tried the restart. Yesterday the Fitbit versa completely turned off in the middle of my workout. Today it stopped a couple minutes in. I have completely lost faith at this point. I spent $200 to replace the 1 year old blaze that I had (because it died). I’ve been a long time Fitbit user, but am extremely frustrated. What can we do to fix this?

I have experienced this twice in the last two days on an elliptical machine. I will restart my watch and see if it happens again. Yesterday it stopped after 11m 17s, and today it stopped after 24m 54 s. I don't see an on-screen notification, not do I recall a vibration. I only notice it when I check my watch for my progress.
This is a new watch for me as well. Started using it on Sunday and other than this issue I love it so far. But as with others, this is very frustrating.

For exercises started manually versa has a setting to automatically pause whenever it detects low activity/movement. It vibrates and pauses. Perhaps try disabling this option in the exercise settings on your watch?

How do I do that? I do a lot of HIIT, so that could be one reason. I have also noticed that it will stop when I’m doing something where the button on the side may get hit by my arm ( seal walks, where wrist potentially hits arm). Is there a way to disable the side buttons? I really would like to make this work, but am really getting frustrated.
Kind Regards,

@Katiee23 on your versa open exercise app. Go to run or bike etc and click settings in the top left corner. Scroll down to Auto pause and disable.

Thank you. I never actually use run or bike, only workout. I will see if this helps!

@Katiee23 Hmm I'm not sure workout exercise has auto pause! Ughh I know run and bike do!

Thank you. Yeah, the Versa is just not going to work for me it seems. The battery life is awful too. I just hope Target will let me return it.

I have had the same problem for the past week. Seems to happen after the first lap of any exercise eg 1k running; 200m swimming; 100 calories yoga; it vibrates to indicate a lap and then stops working and goes to clock face. First happened when battery was very low and seemed logical at that time. Have reset but this has not stopped it happening. Happens when the battery is fully charged.
Been a fan of Fitbit for many years, but at the moment Versa has less functionality than Charge HR
