Clock face says "To start,download fitbit app". Have installed Versa twice with Fitbit app twice and it still has not started.

Hi @GrandeeB, I've had this happen a few times. Let me walk you through what helped me.
For starters, you will need to make sure that your app is up to date. Go to your App Store on your phone (that's what I assume you're syncing from) and type "Fitbit" into the search bar, usually located at the top of the screen. Select it, and if it says, "Update" please do so. Once updated, see if you can sync again and let me know if that helps or not. If not, there's other options we need to explore.
