Fitbit app is tracking too many steps

My Versa 2 counts my steps pretty accurately, but if recently I start a walk in the app on the phone (so I can screenshot the map of my walks in a new area) it's registering about three times the right number.of steps and distance, which then makes my Versa wrong when it synchs with the phone.

Hi there, @Aljie63. It's nice to see you around. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that your Fitbit app is adding too many steps. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

Before we can work on this together, could you confirm if you have MobileTrack connected to your account? MobileTrack is a function that allows you to track basic information using your phone's sensors when a Fitbit device isn't nearby. With that being said, note that MobileTrack might be tracking those extra steps. To verify this, please in the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab > then tap Devices. In this section you'll see your Versa 2 and below your phone (in case MobileTrack is indeed connected).

Assuming this applies to you, I'd recommend removing this function from the Fitbit app and monitoring your data afterwards. For instructions on how to remove a device, see this help article
