Fitbit step counts way off

This issue started yesterday with my Ionic. It logged something like 4000 steps every 15 minutes that I was on the stair-climber.

I didn't think much of it as it's the first time it's happened and I had a new Versa 2 sitting at home. Today I went to the gym with my new Versa after setting it up and updating it and got the exact same result. 4k steps in a 15 minute period of time again for the entire hour I was on the climber. Should have been 4000 steps total.

At any rate, it seems to be happening since the latest update on the app/device? Anyone else having this issue? I tried to reset and it didn't seem to help.

"4k steps in a 15 minute period of time again for the entire hour"

So you got 16,000 steps for the hour, right?

Are you seeing this in the workout summary?  Is it also reflected in daily total?

Are you using the exercise app? As which workout type?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I got 16000 steps in an hour on my fitbit step counter. I was not using any
workout tracking function and have never in the past on the stair climber.
The count on the climber itself showed 4000 steps.
