Fitbit versa not tracking all my steps

So the last week when I’ve worked it’s been crazy and I’ve hardly sat down and my Fitbit is saying I’ve only had between 6,000-7,000 steps and my health app on my iPhone shows I have between 9,000-10,000. I called today and the lady said it was because I had the clock face set to one that wasn’t created by Fitbit but I’ve had this same clock face for the last couple of months and it’s just been the last week it’s been giving me issues. I’ve rest the Fitbit by holding down the buttons and erased it off my phone and added it again and just updated the software to the most recent as well. Just curious if I’m going to need to get a new one (I hope not) or why it’s not working.

Have you just recently been doing something keeping your hands still while walking, like pushing wheelchairs or holding treadmill handrails?  Those can prevent steps being detected.

I can't imagine the clock face would affect step count.  At the most it could make it display wrong on clock face, but I wouldn't think that could affect numbers synced to your phone app.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
