Getting Music on Versa with Windows 10 App.

Good day everyone,

This is frustrating because there is no other way to get music on my Versa.

I am having problems getting music onto to my Fitbit Versa.  When I am in the Windows 10 app, navigate to my versa, and select the wifi settings a window pops open looking for the Wifi options but never finds any.  However, my computer (and other devices) can see the options just fine.

I tried to see if I could add the Fitbit App to my work computer, but it won't let me. Likely a setting from my IT Department.

Any advice anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Katerina Kmet

Hello @Kat81, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around. Smiley Happy

Thanks for bringing this situation that's affecting how you transfer music from the Fitbit app in Windows 10 to my attention. First, please confirm your network type is compatible with your Fitbit watch by reviewing the supported network types in How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi? For best results, use your home or work Wi-Fi network.

After you verify the network is compatible or if you have already set up that Wi-Fi connection in your Versa, plug your watch into the charger and make sure it’s in range of your Wi-Fi network. For a stronger Wi-Fi connection, move your watch closer to your router. After that, ,make sure your watch and PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon (User-added image) > your device image.
  2. Tap or click Wi-Fi Settings.
  3. Tap or click Add Network and follow the on-screen instructions to add your Wi-Fi network or check the Network list to make sure it’s already listed.
  4. Tap the network name > Connect.
  5. To see which network your computer is on, click the Wi-Fi symbol (User-added image) on your screen. Connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your watch.
  6. If your watch and computer are connected to different networks, manually connect to your watch to the same network as your computer. Return to the Wi-Fi Settings screen in the Fitbit app, tap the network name, and tap Connect.

Then try to to transfer music following these steps:

  1. For best results, sync your watch in the Fitbit app, and then disable Bluetooth temporarily on your phone and computer.
  2. Plug your watch into the charger.
  3. On your PC, open the Fitbit app and click the Music icon (User-added image).
  4. Click Personal Music.
  5. On your watch, open the Music app (User-added image) and then tap Transfer Music. Note that you may need to scroll down to see the transfer button.
    User-added image
  6. Wait a few moments for your watch to connect. Note it can sometimes take a minute or two to connect.
  7. When prompted, follow the on-screen instructions on your PC to choose or create the playlists you want to download to your watch. After you select a playlist, the download starts automatically.
  8. Note that if you take several minutes to pick your first playlist, Wi-Fi may disconnect to preserve your battery. Tap the Transfer Music button again to reconnect and continue choosing your playlists.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I am having this issue. Have been trying for 2 days to download music. I got my Versa on Thursday. It took about 5 hours to get it to do the update. I have to turn it off and restart it every time I want to make any kind of change. However with the music that is not working. It is connected to my home WiFi which is compatible. It is also connected to my computer by bluetooth. I have disconnected every bluetooth compatible device in my house to solve this problem. My Versa is laying right next to my computer. I have restarted the Versa, turned on and off bluetooth, which is no easy task to get it to find it again, disconnected and reconnected to the WiFi which also is no easy task. This is very frustrating. I am thinking from reading through this forum that this product was released to early and that it was not properly field tested. It should not be this difficult to connect to bluetooth, wifi, or a phone.

Hello @JessopY, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have shared your experience with me and for letting me know the troubleshooting steps you've already tried in hopes to resolve this issue. At this moment I would like to suggest you to check @ErickFitbit's helpful post with troubleshooting steps for Music Transfer issues. Keep in mind that even when the post is in the Ionic board, the Ionic and the Versa share the same exact version of Fitbit OS.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

The one most important thing that I find missing in the responses that I'd read so far if that one needs both Bluetooth and Wifi for music transfer to be less confusing. WiFi only transfers the files to the Versa. Bluetooth then confirms the current state of transfert on the Versa back to the Windows App. If the Versa is also connected to a phone via Bluetooth, then the phone could disrupt the slow transfer process.

Hello @HgP thanks for joining the conversation, it's great to have you on board the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have joined us and posted your question. Please note that you will be able to manage your music in the Windows 10 app by clicking on the Account icon > Versa > Music. Check the following article for further instructions about how to transfer music to your Versa: How do I listen to music on my Fitbit watch.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let us know the outcome.

Dear Marco,

Thanks for replying.

There is no account icon on my window 10, I'm using Google Chrome.

Your instruction is good to my iphone only. (Account icon > Versa > Music...) But there is no Account icon, there is a Versa icon, but no Music icon in my computer dash-top.  See pictures of the screen shots of my computer. 2019-03-24 (1).png2019-03-24 (2).png2019-03-24.png

Hello @HgP I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have come back to us with some screenshots. Please note that what you're seeing here is the Online Dashboard and not the Windows 10 app. Please download the app from the Microsoft Store. Once you install the app, open it and log in with your credentials.

After logging in, you will be able to find the Account button on the top right corner of the screen (in yellow):

Once inside your Account, tap on Versa > Music.

I hope this helps, give it a try and let us know how it goes.

OK i've been using the Online Dashboard and not the Windows 10 app.  Confusion Reigns !

Shame you have to have premium (paid) membership of Spotify and Deezer I only use the free versions

Did work for me, had to chat with support.

What did work

Install the Fitbit connect application, it is not obvious.  Go to fitbit.com/setup.  The first installer is for the Fitbit app, but below it, there is a second link that says if you don't have a mobile device.  You need both, the second install Fitbit connect.

Next, turn Bluetooth off your laptop and phone

Next, connect your phone in the charger

Next, in the lower right corner next to date and time, you should have a new icon for fitbit connect.  Right-click it and select manage my music

Next, back on the watch go to music and select enable transfer

You can now create a playlist using the Fitbit app for Fitbit connect the sync worked for me
