With the announced purchase by Google, we need to wait a see if Google will force Assistant onto the Versa 2.

Oh I totally forgot about Google buying FitBit.

If the deal is not made yet and gets made, then I HOPE Google for demand Google Home be added to Versa 2 (and other models).

As a computer professional, I know full well that there's no technological reason to NOT add Google Home.

In fact, it would be easy to integrate BOTH Alexa and Google Home and allow a customer to choose which, or even have both functioning.

I wanted to buy a Versa 2.  I have the Versa Lite and I really like it.

But when I found out that it ONLY supports Alexa, that was a deal breaker for me.

I wonder how many other potential customers are out there who won't buy the V2 due to this very issue.

Let's see what happens.  😁  😀

I bought the Versa 2 around 4 months ago and don’t use Alexa (it wasn’t important to me). Am gutted the versa 3 has Google Assistant and it probably won’t be released on the versa 2 any time soon but I’m not going to be rushing out to buy a versa 3 just for the Google Assistant feature.

Thanks, LC, for that info.  I hadn't researched any new Fitbit products, so I didn't know that they would bring out a model with Google Assistant.

I too won't be an early adopter.  Not anymore.  I've been burned too many times in my life by jumping onto new tech too soon.

I'll wait and watch the boards to see how well it works and how well the FitBit people actually support it.

But if it turns out to work well and blend nicely with Assistant, then I would buy it.

We're heavily into Google Assistant here now.  We really like this thing and to be honest, in our home, we don't want a device where we can't choose the voice.  We don't want that Alexa voice.  We have chosen, for Assistant, a male voice that sounds totally human.  Not that "robotic" voice.

So as long as the V3 would retain the male voice, then we'd be interested in them.

Again, thanks for informing of the new device to be released soon (I assume).

Take care.

Quick update. I tweeted Fitbit and they replied. They asked me to vote on a Google Assistant Versa 2 update which developers could act on if they get enough votes.

Please vote and share the link and let’s get the update on the Versa 2 🙂
