Hello, just thinking about my walks around cities where I prefer to be above ground rather than below - and wondered if I could put the maps & directions on my wrist rather than hold a phone in my hand? Thank you in advance

@KateLAr Great idea! I am constantly using Google Maps for navigation and this would be super helpful. At this time, this functionality will not be available for Versa. Please check out this Feature Suggestion for the same idea and vote. Smiley Happy

Thank you - have voted! With the amount of phones being snatched from people' hands in the streets, it would be a safer option!

How would it know your location to do navigation without GPS?

With the connected GPS feature - so basically mirroring the phone in your pocket 🙂

Completely by accident I found my Versa would receive turn notifications for navigation if my phone was using Google Maps for navigation and Apple CarPlay was active, phone plugged into a USB port in the car.....would not do so if the phone was connected to the car via BT.....I believe I had Google Maps operating in the background, not on the phone screen....must be some capability to use Google Maps programmed into the watch

Pebble had it. Didn't Fitbit buy Pebble?

Best Answer

They did buy pebble but the app that did the mirroring was a third party app and pebble did not own it. I find it incredible that people have been asking for this for years, literally years on this board and the best answer we get is  to ask for the feature to be added... this is so disappointing. How can anyone take this company seriously? Recently a moderator posted a work around and her instructions were just not clear nor did they work. I've gone round and round trying to follow the instructions she posted to no avail. It can't possibly be that hard for @Fitbit to listen to their current customers can it?

Thanks for the post. Can you let us know if this works while you are on foot? Thanks.

Sadly I gave up even trying 😕 love my versa, love the Fitbit app & recently got a free galaxy active watch with my phone upgrade - it's funny this is being commented on today as I was swaying between selling the freebie or keeping it - a major factor of keeping the freebie is the Google maps & a friend this evening demo'd hers to show me it in 'real life'!

I hear that. My wife is all Apple, I use android. I love the way her apple
watch works with nav etc. My old pebble use to do that. Oh well, lesson
learned. I was sure that the Versa would be a nice step up from my last
pebble but outside to the touchscreen and color... it actually has less
functionality.

I'm just gutted that it hasn't been added to be honest - because the pebble had it I thought it would be a matter of time before the versa got it - 18 months in my Versa is thankfully working fine atm apart from a lower battery life, I'm lucky to get 3 full days now (I think I'm lucky there!) However no Google maps & my bank does not support Fitbit pay - these were the 2 main reasons I got the Versa as I thought it would be a matter of time before both functions rolled out - a lesson learnt to make decisions on what IS available, rather than what could be coming so my fault totally - the only thing I'm going to miss about switching the Samsung is the Fitbit app & the challenges I do weekly! (I think - but Samsung may have other things I don't like about it - so we shall see after a few weeks of wearing it - keeping my Versa 'just in case' for a bit) Thankfully I'm not tempted to go Apple like your Wife mind!!
