Hourly activity Versa 3 versus Versa 2

I've just bought a Versa 3.  I've had a Versa 2 for a couple of years, had it replaced so it's out of warranty, but I used it to try to help drag my ancient body into some form of activity and it's been great.

Now it's gone wrong again I thought I'd venture into the new version.  Currently I'm a bit disappointed.  Not 'throw it in the bin' disappointed, but just 'it's not as easy as the old one' disappointed.

Just to be clear, I've been in IT for almost 40 years, I'm pretty techie capable.  The issues I'm seeing appear to be more design changes.  Which rarely make things worse.  But anyhoo

First issue.  On the Versa 2 the 'hourly activity' was one of my go to places.  It was easy to see I'd done, say, 5 out of12 activities, and what's current.  Now, if I want to see more, it prompts me to open my phone.  I don't seem to be able to scroll left / right for current versus total activity.  To do so I need not only the watch but the phone too. Which is ridiculous, so I can't believe anyone would design that retrograde step in.  Therefore I'm getting it wrong.

What am I missing?

thanks in advance for the help

HI @chezadw - some navigation is required on a Versa 3 but have you considered a watch face which shows everything you need without navigation, such as SimpleClockPro which specializes in hourly activity, with steps done [or to do] per hour, number of active hours and a day summary of steps per hour. EG.

SimpleClockPro steps per hourSimpleClockPro steps per hour

It might make things simpler, there may be others so it is worth looking in the Gallery.

Thank you very much for taking the trouble to reply.  I have chosen a chronometer style face which isn't as useful an overview as the one on my Versa 2.   Thanks for the suggestion but I think yours is somewhat more specialised than I want (and a little less 'watch' style)

The function I'm thinking about however was a basic feature of the UI of the Versa 2, and was one vertical swipe and one horizontal swipe from the basic face.  It appears that Fitbit designers have relegated it to 'Advanced Stats' and whereas with other 'advanced stats' there are the stats I'd expect for the feature available at a tap, the one I find most useful simply directs you to the phone app for more information.

I can't imagine that the designers want it to be this way.  But I may be wrong.

Thank you for your help

@chezadw-  thanks for your understanding and explanation.I like the proposed face because it gives the multiple reminders to move and drink so no navigation is needed at all. Each person has their preferences.

Just in case you missed it, when you scroll up on the Versa 3, at the bottom there is Manage. There you can configure many widget stats, and they also have swipe left to see more details.

Alternatively you can configure the button [long press or double press] to launch the Today app on the watch to get more information at the touch of a button, or move the Today launch icon to the first screen when you swipe left, to give a more immediate access to it. To do that press and hold the icon and drag it to the first screen and position it.

I've spoken to Fitbit support.  They have confirmed that this feature is now only available through the phone app.  Which is a pity as it was something I used a lot and I have no real desire to carry the phone whenever I'm moving, open the phone, open the app, sync the watch to enable me to look.

Shame, but I guess the Fitbit team view it as progress.
