Versa Lite does not track stairs climbed, as in does not have the required altimeter.
The other differences from Versa that make it 'Lite', as I recall, are no Fitbit Pay and no music storage.
Even though it does not count stairs climbed, you still get credit for stairs raising your heart rate, increasing calorie burn, Zone Minutes, etc.

Hi there, @amsqueenbee. Welcome to the Community Forums.
Unlike Fitbit Versa, Versa Lite doesn't track floors. Although it is designed without floor feature, your device can track as many activities as other Fitbit devices does. For more information about your Versa Lite, you can click this link: Versa Lite Edition User Manual.
