How do I use Spotify on my Versa 2 during a workout?

Seeing as fitibit advertised spotify integration I was quite excited, imagine my disappointment when I find out there is seemingly no way to control spotify during a workout from the watch.   Am I missing something or did Fitbit pull a fast one on everyone?  I've been searching all afternoon trying to find a way to use spotify during a workout and all I've found is tons of people with the same issue making posts about it.

Hello @aleven, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment about using Spotify on your Versa 2. Thanks for taking the time to do some searching about this feature, currently there's no way to control your music during a workout without having to end it first.

On Ionic and Versa series, use the Spotify app to control the music playing on the Spotify app on your phone, computer, or other device, and to like songs and switch between playlists. Note that your watch must be running Fitbit OS 4.0 or later to download the Spotify app from the Fitbit App Gallery.

To control the Spotify app from your watch:

  1. In the Fitbit app, tab the Today tab >  your profile picture > your device image > Apps.
  2. Tap the gear icon

     next to Spotify.
  3. Tap Log in and follow the on-screen instructions to log in to your Spotify Premium account.
  4. Open the Spotify app on your phone or other device and begin playing music.
  5. Open the Spotify app on your watch to control music.
    • Tap the devices icon to switch between devices. To see a device, you must have the Spotify app open on that device and be logged in to your account. Up to 8 devices are listed.
    • Tap the shuffle icon to shuffle the tracks.
    • Tap the heart icon to like a track.
    • Use the controls to play, pause, or skip to the next track or previous track.
    • Swipe right to see your 8 most recently played playlists, or tap Library to find the playlists you created, the playlists created for you, and a selection of workout playlists. Tap a playlist to switch to it.

This actually makes Spotify integration completely pointless and seems like an intentionally misguided selling point.

What is the actual purpose of the Spotify app on Fitbit?

I just got the Fitbit yesterday and spotify integration was a huge reason why I got the charge 4. It's so silly that spotify cannot be used without finishing the workout. The whole point is to listen to music while working out, so why isn't this functionality available? I'm not asking for the fit to play songs on spotify without having my phone on me, but with the phone in my pocket, why i can't see what's playing and change tracks on the fitbit if need be. So frustrating and misleading.
