How does the GPS work on the Versa 2?

Does anyone know how the GPS on the Versa 2 works.   I am trying to figure out when I go for a bike ride why it will only connect to the GPS once ever 10 or 15 times.  My phone always connects to the GPS but not my Versa.  I have had it Not connect on a clear day and then later connect when it was cloudy with light rain.  I always start from the same parking lot that has no trees or obstructions.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  I have went through all the Fitbit trouble shooting exercises and nothing seems to work.

I have been through the help page more than once.  My Versa can (But many times won’t) connect to my phone and my phone connects to GPS every time.  The problem is, the GPS connection from my Versa is very unreliable.  Sometimes it won’t connect at all.  Lately it connects but then as I start my ride it pauses and disconnects.  I have found that if I swipe down on the app and refresh it and then immediately got to my Versa that it will connect to GPS but then it won’t stay connected.  I am not the only one that is having this problem.
