So I bought my new Versa yesterday evening, and today I'm connecting it to the app. It says the Fitbit needed an update, and it would only take 30 minutes. I've been here two hours and its not even halfway updated, and, I'm still trying to set it up. any suggestions?

30 minutes is about right, unless a lot of other people are also updating at the same time. Just let it run.

A warm welcome to the Community @LunaWolfGirl and @SunsetRunner thanks for stopping by.
I think that 30 minutes is great for an update. For me it was around 1 hour, it will all depend on the speed of your internet and the connection between the Fitbit and phone. Once you get to update your Versa the setup process will be easy. But if you have any inquiry, you can check the help article How do I set up my Fitbit device?.
Let me know how the outcome.

I have been updating my Versa for over 2 hours and I am projecting completion in about 3 hours. My impression is that the connection from Phone to Versa is Bluetooth and I don't think I had a choice. WiFi is about 100 times as fast as Bluetooth. "This can take awhile" is not very helpful when I depend on my phone for income and I am afraid to try and do the update in background.

I just got a Versace and it’s been over 3 hours updating. How can I tell how much longer it wii take?

I think you probably mean Versa, not Versace.
I updated mine a couple of days ago and I think it took about 10-15 minutes.
Your connection speed (WiFi) matters.

Mine took 5 hours... some people just need 15-20 minutes.
Mine have problem connecting to wifi. Cannot find wifi, although all my 5 other devices can connect easily to my wifi. I can only blamed Versa for this since all other various devices, Dell Laptop Windows, 2 tablets, 2 smartphones, 1 windows PC have no problem in connecting to wifi.
Pprobably the bluetooth connection is very much slower

My update has been running about an hour and the bar on the screen looks to be about halfway.

I didn't know wifi was an option! Probably would have been MUCH faster!

I just recently got my versa and after setting it up have been trying many times to do the new update, I have tried many different troubleshooting routes and looked at advice from customer service but nothing is working. It keeps getting stuck at five percent and I let it go for three hours the last time I tried, any suggestions?

I have been using wifi just because I don't understand how to use blutooth to do the update. If you could tell me how to use Bluetooth to update, that would be great! I'm fine with how long it takes.

On the watch? Even though I have set everything up and only need the update I still have the same screen as when I got it today which is the Fitbit sign with it saying to start download the Fitbit app. Is it supposed to be like that? Also it may be my wifi it normally isn't that fast and I may need a different wifi place for it to download.

'Not sure what to tell you. Sounds like maybe the initial setup isn't complete. Maybe figure out how to do a factory reset and start over. Should be instructions on here somewhere. Like I said, I'm just not real familiar with the Versa. Just fumbled thru it myself!

Currently, I am moving into nearly hour five with only 55% of the Fitbit Versa update completed (started around 4:40 pm and it's now almost 9 pm). It's updating, but moving extremely slow. I have contacted customer support three to four times tonight and they state because I have a Motorola Moto Z4 model which the FItbit devices have not been tested with, if the the update is not completed correctly and the device no longer syncs, I cannot get a replacement on the Versa I just purchased at the end of August 2019 (unfortunately, I chose to do a factory reset on my device as the music option popped up today when I swiped down for the notifications and I don't utilize the music option on my device; I had never seen that pop up under notifications before and I thought that would clear/correct it). I chose to wait it out (even overnight, if needed) and see what happens. If the device is totally useless after this evening, I probably will not be purchasing another Fitbit (I've had three or four of them over the last several years).

mine just randomly stopped working today. Counted my steps and distance from yesterday and carried it over. I reset it 3 times, uninstalled and reinstalled the app and bow some update is taking ages and not telling me how long it'll be. I think it's fecked.
