Welcome to the forums!

Treadmill
If you are holding on to the bars it will not count accurately. Also you not covering an exact distance because you are not moving forward.

Also See this thread by MrMarv

Thank you the step count makes sense. I have found out my versa is not compatible with my Huawei  P20 lite despite Curry's telling me it was ! no wonder it's not synching

@WendyB"If you are holding on to the bars it will not count accurately." .... It appears you are referring to stepcount instead of HR...  The OP never asked about distance.

@sanlee"The heart rate seems to differ considerably which what the treadmill in the gym says? Anybody else have this problem and which is more accurate"

Both systems do some form of filtering, but for as long as your HR is reasonably stable the treadmill will be 100% accurate. There are many threads on the accuracy of the HR sensor on the Versa, Ionic, Charge 3. It is fair to say that for some/many people there are issues at higher HR's. Usually it is correct up to maybe 120bpm, and beyond that starts to differ in weird patterns. That's my observation at least. The Charge 2 was always spot on up to 160bpm. Something has changed, a lot of ppl have noticed it, but fitbit isn't really admitting it. I am almost contemplating going back to my Charge 2.

That said I have the following tips, particularly for the treadmill:

  • Try to not move your arm with the tracker too much
  • Follow the instructions on tracker placement, you may need to experiment with tightness of the band and distance from wrist
  • Keep sweat away
  • IF you want to calibrate against the treadmill, take a reading from the watch, then hold the handlebars and compare with the earlier tracker reading. Do not compare with the tracker while holding.
