Hi can someone please help I am new to the Fitbit, the calories seem ridiculously high for example today it thinks I have burned 1444 calories I have only done 5,600 steps and had 11 active minutes. From what I’ve read online it says disable calorie estimation but when I go to the cog In dashboard and scroll for preferences there is no such option it just gives me activity goals. Also I only purchased 30th December and on calories when I scroll down it’s showing the same number of 1353 calories burned from august onwards I didnt even have it then! Someone please help me make sense of it, im thinking of returning it for a refund and just getting an Apple Watch they seem so much simpler

Do you realize Fitbit includes your BMR (basal metabolic calorie) burn, the calories your body is always burning just to stay alive? These typically account for more than half your daily calorie burn. And no, you cannot turn these off. They are calories you are burning.
From How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?
The 1353 calories is your BMR calorie burn. That is back-filled into your history before you wore it, and will be proportionally filled in for time you are not actually wearing the watch.

You've got it with the 1353. Or you could look at the calorie burn chart overnight and find the minimum value given in 15 minute increments, and multiply that out to a full day.
